Do Royal Mail allow you to work for Amazon as a self employed flex driver? Or is it against our contract terms?

I thought we all worked for Amazon already, the ammount of their parcels I deliver!

Only hope I'm invited to their Christmas Staff Party.

I would have thought it was a Conflict of Interests to work for a competitor, but as we do deliver their parcels RM are obviously happy to take their money I don't see why you shouldn't.

Pretty certain it's not permitted, just had a quick search on the people app and found this, although I don't think that Amazon are actually a competitor as they only deliver stuff they sell, obviously if it was evri or dpd that would be different.

You are free to work for another employer as long as you inform your current employer. Any hours you work count towards the working time regulations.

I bet a few work two or more jobs and don't tell RM. The rules are you have to inform RM if you have another job - and you cannot work for a competitor (the debate on this thread has started as to what everyone thinks is a competitor). If RM find out you have another job they can potentially dismiss you. If you have been working for a "competitor" you'll probably be dismissed immediately. Paint that target on your back if you are happy to do it.

If you tell RM about a second job, and get it approved (in writing) you are free to work both openly.

Ultimately it's up to you. RM may never find out. However, if they do you have made it easier for them to show you the door.

What is a competitor? When you tell RM your (future) plan to work for company X they will OK it or not.

Yep We used to have one of those as well. It was a bit of piss take when I was still out delivering and he pulledup in his crappy Herpes Van and jumped out to deliver parcels .... STILL wearing his Royal Mail Uniform!

Working for a another courier is strictly banned as it would be considered to be working for a competitor, also having a another driving job could effect your driving hours
