A business at the busiest time of the year is banning folk to go over. Personally it's suicidal and ludicrous to do such a thing. It not only effects the customer, but also the goodwill of the postie wanting some extra cash and trying to clear his/her walk.

Later starting times have not really helped people wanting to clear anything within the office. Who wants to be delivering in the dark cold evenings, certainly not me.

You can do OT in the morning clearing your cut-offs from the day before. Does that make it a 9AM first letter or last letter?

We had an OT ban most of the summer. Yet managers still get their bonuses

Still no ban at our place. Hopefully we get one just before the Christmas rush.

Fingers crossed for next week. Hasn’t been that busy this week. Only went over once.

I've not went over for the last couple of years now. Walk get cleared periodically by back shift apologies and explanations abound to the regulars for a while after

Black Friday officially starts tomorrow so we’ll see how long their overtime ban lasts.

Are people leaving mail and doing packets? What's happening at other offices?

If we suspect we can't complete, we are directed to ensure SD's, all tracked, customer collections and boxes are done. Leave mail in loops
to accommodate that directive. Next day the mail on the loop that was left has to be delivered and a different loop left if necessary.

Where is this ‘massive increase in parcels’?

In my office, 198 tracked on a paired duty with only 1 driver...... me. My partner done letters and i drove about like a idiot trying to get the tracked done in the duty time...... i failed.

Why would you drive round "like an idiot" to get an obviously unachievable workload done?
Remember it's your license.
Chill, do what you can and no more, unless you want the o/t.
