Yeah I think that too, I've just done a rough calculation and I reckon the paid breaks are about 9% of our wage so any pay deal that includes losing them will need to be a pretty decent increase.

It has to be noted that much of what RM is doing, is outside of the agreement with the CWU. Much of what they are doing hasn’t even been agreed with OFCOM.

So it is unfair to blame the agreement for everything wrong that is happening. If something is occurring which you think is wrong, ask your rep about it, if they don’t have the answer, go higher.

Our employer hasn’t acted in good faith and we need to let managers know that we know, when they are acting out of scope.

I think we all have to accept that the union is just the same as the company, trying to make sure they all keep getting paid and make money, this in turn goes against everything they are working for, so its a double edged sword.
Nothing nowadays is really a charity, even they have very rich people getting paid hundreds of thousands of pounds in charge.
All we can hope for is that at some stage they will look after us by stemming the deluge coming in our direction from RM, maybe they will get Dan the man to come in and change things, who knows.
But be under no illusions that if push really comes to shove the union will go into self preservation mode and throw us all under the nearest bus.

But local reps do get paid by RM for their union work. It is all done in company time, and they are given release time for TU work. As such, they are paid the same as other posties yet do at least 20% less real work.
