First class and tracked prioritizing
Is it all offices that are being made to drive round delivering all first class letters and tracked if they can't complete.
It's such an inefficient way to work and to be told if you can't complete just make sure all your tracked, specials, first class and collections are done, just adds stress trying to get them all done in time.
If we ring up and tell the manager I've misjudged it and cut off too late so might have to bring back a few first class letters or tracked are we protected?

Nope. Tracked and specials at ours. First class isn't prioritised

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
No, but it is indeed insane. I mean, would it not be easier to make the duties achievable and then the delivery of a subset of items would be naturally achieved in the process of delivering all of the items? Call it 'Single Delivery'.
The machine stops.

Wouldn't be able to rip off the general public as much though think of the profits RM would be losing out on

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
We've been completing all tracked and all first class, delivering all one frame and clearing tracked/1st class on the other, things were ok. This week we were told even this isnt enough, and need to take more loops out.

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
It is happening at ours. Even on hct walks. The postie has to leave parts of the frame in so that he has time to walk to the bits that have first class and make sure those are done, along with the tracked obviously! Then we have dpr routes going to the same addresses as the regular postie sometimes at the same time exactly. How about make the walks smaller and then the posties would clear both frames, including the first class and they could even take the large parcels as they're going from loop to loop. It's so inefficient, driving around with letters isn't exactly green is it.

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
So are posties having to look through the slots on the frame to look for first class mail?
If we have to have a fail on successive days in our offices, you take the SD's, all tracked, large non-tracked you think you might be able to do and letters less ALL the letters on a segment/loop you won't be able to do.
Day 2, you take the same but leave ALL the letters on a different segment you won't be able to and clear ALL the letters on the segment/loop
that didn't get done yesterday.
Repeat ad nauseum.

Specials and tracked are priority at my DO. If you can clear its a admirable. But OT is always available if you want to stay and clear.

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
I thought this was what RM told customers they did i.e if a walk fails one day if should go out the next, they are not telling customers they should get 1c regularly but just pot luck when 2c is delivered!yellowbelly wrote: ↑02 Nov 2024, 17:34So are posties having to look through the slots on the frame to look for first class mail?

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
You say "obviously" but Specials and customer collections are often not done in our office if a lone worker has the day off. It's funny when being spoken to for the umpteenth time for bringing Tracked back as unattempted, you give the managers the tracking numbers of Specials that weren't taken out on your day off.

Re: First class and tracked prioritizing
As of this week, yes. Absolute nonsense. Streaming is back! 70% of business mail is DSA now so it takes a while to go through it looking for those elusive 1s. Frankly, this is the treatment DSA should have received long ago
The machine stops.
