Minimum wage set to increase to £12.21

I noticed today that Sainsbury's are offering £13.50 and hour for delivery drivers.

So… they won’t be able to advertise that they pay ‘10% above market average’ anymore. 10% above minimum wage will be £13.43 an hour. Maybe they will be able to find people to recruit by advertising ‘pay thats 30p above minimum wage’.

Didn’t take long to become a minimum wage job…. got a new starter where I live, never seen someone give less of a sh*t about any job, not just rm

The premium for walking 8 to 10 miles a day in the pissing down rain is being eroded even quicker than I thought. All that’s going to happen is they will have to up the rate of the new contracts and then in the next breath will say sorry there’s nothing left for anybody on the legacy contract.

We should be on £16 pounds an hour for what we do.. what they ll do now to anyone on a new contract is put it up 30p an hour.. about 90p altogether above the minimum wage..it's a disgrace.

Yeah I agree, but also do away with the delivery supplement and we ALL start on a fair wage

I agree. The Union need to push for at least a £15ph wage for all in delivery and scrap the supplement so that if you do overtime you will still earn this rate.

We didn't need a Labour government increasing minimum wage to tell us how bad the current t's and c's are.
