Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
Background: I'm on a 30hr per week (6hrs per day) contract, with un-paid break. I joined RM on 7th October.
On checking my 1st payslip, I've been paid 105hrs for October. Going on the basis that I will have worked 19 days (up to the 31st), this works out at 5.5hrs per day!
Have any other new starters, on the same contract, had this happen to them?. Or can confirm the full 6hrs per day has been paid?
If it's relevant:
1. I always ensure I'm recording a minimum of 6hrs between login & logout at my DO.
2. I don't bother with a specific 20min break, but will have a couple of 5min smoking 'stops' during the walk.
Will definitely be chasing up with Management on Monday!!

Def ask your manager, you should be getting paid full 6 hours a day, I never have a 20min break either, not sure if that would mean we need to do a 6.20min day to include the break, I just leave when the others do, unless I do overtime

Re: Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
Our new starters have suggested that they've only got 27 hr 30 mins weekly contracts as they don't get paid for their breaks of 30 mins a day,
does your contract say you'll get paid for 30 hours a week or does it just show your duty hours as being 6 hrs long, as in RM's new world that's seemingly two different things!!

If you're on one of the new contracts then it's probaly actually the right amount. The system probably assumes that you've taken your breaks.

Just read my contract, it says hours of work 30 excluding breaks, that mean I get paid for 30 or are breaks part of the 30 hours?

9.1 Subject to Clause 9.2 of this statement, your weekly hours of work will be 30,00 (excluding meal breaks).
Which I take to mean I will be paid for 30hrs per week!

The meal break issue is more complicated than it needs to be, if I do overtime I was told the first 20 mins I wouldn't get paid for as summat to do with unpaid breaks, but the other guys on old contracts can leave 20 mins early because they get paid breaks.

Re: Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
My DO manager was a complete waste of space, but the admin lady gave me the HR contact number. So I phoned them this afternoon.
Those of us on the 30hr per week contracts are paid a flat £1634.51 per month. HR did explain a formula to work out your pay if you didn't work a full month (eg sickness absence) based on dividing £1634.51 by the number of days in that month, then multiplying that number by the number of days you did work.
For example: If you were off for 7 days in October, then to work out your pay you would divide £1634.51 by 31 = £52.73. Multiplying £52.73 by 24 would give you £1265.52 pay.
They don't base your pay on the number of hours or days you actually work in a month?!?

Yeah, I've heard that too!! Would ensuring that you don't sign-on for any overtime until 6hrs 20mins after you started your normal shift cancel that out???fadetogrey63 wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 16:46The meal break issue is more complicated than it needs to be, if I do overtime I was told the first 20 mins I wouldn't get paid for as summat to do with unpaid breaks, but the other guys on old contracts can leave 20 mins early because they get paid breaks.

I'm always out with posties on old contracts, so I'm always back early for them to go home, I carry on with my overtime and just make it last 20min longer or I guess I could take my break then start..

Re: Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
Unless you work 7 days a week that makes no sense, surely it should be divided by the days you should have worked during the month and then multiplied by the days you did work?richardkhill wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 16:58My DO manager was a complete waste of space, but the admin lady gave me the HR contact number. Re: Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
Totally agree with you! It appears that they're working on a monthly average of 130.34hrs, rather than the actual hours you've worked.
Potentially I will work 132hrs in Nov, so loose out by £25. For December, I will potentially only work 120hrs, so will be overpaid by £130!
I'm guessing it's designed to pretty much balance out over a full year??

Re: Appear to have only been paid for 5.5hr shifts
As it's monthly pay I'd assume they reached the monthly figure by multiplying the hourly rate x 30 x 52 then divide by 12richardkhill wrote: ↑28 Oct 2024, 16:58My DO manager was a complete waste of space, but the admin lady gave me the HR contact number. So I phoned them this afternoon.

So £12.54 x 30 hours = £376.20
X 52 = £19562.40
Divide by 12 to get the monthly figure £1630.20
So that's slightly different though, does your contract state how much you get per year for a certain amount of hours ?

My contract only mentions the full time salary:
Rate of Pay and Other Benefits
5. Subject to Clause 12 (Pension Benefits), your starting salary will be £26.164,00 per annum, (pro rata for part time)
