How come you went back ?

I left after 32 years and no way i'd go back with zero seniority and working all weekends .

Knowing what i had previously and i now have nothing would absolutly destroy me .

The worst thing to ever have happened is working with a partner.other people prepping your walk, missorts in bundles, waiting at the van . Much better when we worked solo.

Exactly, now I have a fond dislike of 90% of my colleagues. The thought of some of the idiots doing my prep makes me shudder.

No way I would want to start doing this job if I was in my 60's or 50's either to be honest. Fair enough if you started younger and have reached that age 'in the job' as your body would be more accustomed to the role, but if you are getting regular chest pains since you started it would be a good idea to get that checked out.

Yes I have done the job ten years and as others have said if you start on the dot (and not a minute sooner), take your full break, work steady away and leave on the dot (and not a minute later) then I would say the job is much the same, indeed in some ways easier. Since you have little chance of completing just do your best and try and relax.

bring it back including tracked,

last week we left office last and all we got last 90 mins of our time left was phone calls from manager saying make sure to get the tracked done, and leave the mail, we still ended up back late.. my shared partner said we're not allowed to bring tracked back.

Sometimes you have to bring tracked back because that’s all you’ve got if you’re on a parcel route and there’s too many

I came back as I did miss the job and seeing the posties everyday I always felt like I should never of left so I thought I'd have another go, but if course I didn't know how much it had changed.. They expect way to much of us now, we got the mail, door to doors, stacks of parcels, collections from post boxes, collects from customers, all this and no real time to do it all, and the new contracts are on basically minimum wage.. think it's time to get out while I'm still able to find another job

That's disgusting of your manager, threats do the office morale no good at all.. Our office hardly any walks get completed daily, and if it wasn't through the people doing overtime on the oversized the ever so important parcels wouldn't get done either

I’ve been here a few years and it’s really getting me down too. Constantly rushing to get out in the mornings, then when we get back over our time we still have to prep door to doors as we don’t have time in the mornings. It really shouldn’t be a stressful job but I can’t see how it’s going to get any better.
Starting to look for another job it’s just hard to know where to start.

You are getting stressed because you are rushing and trying to get unachievable workloads completed when you haven't really got the time.
Try just going at a reasonable speed and working to your time for a couple of weeks, even if it means not completing.
You may get pressure from management but you can argue that back most of the time.
Try that before you leave, you might need to look for another job.
We don't get paid enough to stress.

On what grounds would a new starter be capable of completing the round better than you?
They don't know that, why don't you invite the manager to shadow you for a day.
Write a letter inviting him and forward email onto the area rep as well explaining the pressure from unachievable workloads and management harassment is causing you distress and you want this rectified.
Don't let them bully you into submission.

I know it's different in MCs, but I also left processing/distribution in MC eleven years ago, taking VR, after 32 years. It was bad enough then and getting continuously worse. From what I hear it would be unbearable for me now.
I have for a split second considered applying for an Xmas casual job, but dismiss that thought immediately. Having said that I think all jobs have got worse in the last 20 years. I'm glad I'm retired now and don't have to put up with the way people are treated now.

Ex postie here. Everybody has a tough time, but the attitude from the majority of the long term regulars stinks and causes the most unfair practices to new and part time staff, aided by management.

if you're thinking of leaving anyway then slow down and stop rushing the job !!

you're not there to work like a speed demon, also weigh your bags, do van checks before you go out ... you should be doing both of these already but as we know 99% of us dont.

.yes you`ll likely end up bringing half a delivery back ... so what ? the workload is unachievable stop killing yourself to make it acheivable.

are you in the union ? let them try to fire you for performance .. its a real pain in the arse for management to take this route and unless you are taking the piss they'll fail.
