Delivery stories

Post by Checkerfinch »

It's always doom and gloom on here so why don't we share some delivery related stories? All of you must have had something funny or interesting happen to you before. I'll start:

Before I became a postie myself, I once had a delivery. Postman knocked, and by the time I went to the door he was already in his van, waiting to see me answer the door to get my package. I didn't usually order things (or be the one to answer the door) so I looked at him, confused as to why he'd knocked.

He was looking at me through the van window. He started frantically pointing down between his legs.

So I'm stood there for a good minute wondering, 'why is the postman pointing at his d*ck?' as he frantically continues his gesturing, becoming more and more exasperated as I stare at him in bewilderment.

He finally rolls down the window and shouts that the parcel is by my feet, on the doorstep.

I thank him and he goes on his way.

That is not a funny story and is a non event. I don't know why you remember it so fondly. As if that is a distraction from what's
happening in office's. He looked down from his van and you thought he was looking at your dick and then realised it was a parcel. Ok, big deal. I I know it seems harsh but just had to said, this post is juvenile.
Ok mate, you don't have to find it funny. It is silly, but why post about it if you don't want to talk about it?

I don't know to be honest. I was just offering my opinion I didn't find it funny.
That's fine. It was honestly an embarrassing moment at my expense, which is why I see it as funny. I'm sure the postman in question had no idea what I was thinking and just assumed I was thick.

Honestly the job is balls now but you've got to see the funny side of things when they happen. Working for RM was actually both the worst and most fun job I'd ever had since you have so much interaction with other people.

I agree with the sentiment, but such is the poor state of affairs these days I'm actually struggling to remember any off the top of my head.

Those that I do eventually recall I'm saving for the book I'm writing about the job. Some might consider that a threat :wave

I'd definitely buy that book. You've got me interested :Very Happy

I suppose maybe this was the wrong place to post a light-hearted topic, we do come here to moan more than anything. I didn't realise my privilege, not being in the business any more and dragged down by it all. I'm sure at some point something will break and someone will have to come along and fix it all. Don't envy that someone.

No delivery stories on my adjacent walk today. Nobody available to deliver it. All the tracked stayed in and the letters were not thrown in. I took the specials and did the collections although that meant I couldn't complete my walk which is too big for one person. So what's the point of "delivery" stories?

Good idea, but might be better off starting the thread in the 'Canteen' area.
