Disillusioned already!

After just three months I'm starting to think now that this is not for me, having come back to been a postie after 12 years out the job it so unrecognisable to the one I left, it's gone totally backwards, yes back then it was hard, but it was manageable.. I love the walking part and interaction with the public, some folk are lovely, but I absolutely hate the parcel side. I'm fed up been on diff walks every week with mail left over from the previous day or even days, most times a whole walk, fed up of coming in daily to 2/ 3 sacks of packets and the same on the other shared walk, all needing to be scanned in, how the hell are we meant to fit it in the pouch with the mail and the door to doors, fed up of bringing mail back because the oversized/tracked MUST be done at all costs.. fed up of doing overtime just to almost make up in wages what the other guys on old contracts get as basic., then theres the physical side, getting home with ankles swollen, twinges in my chest, I'm in my early 60s and after three months it's starting to show now.. I can only see the job getting worse, esp parcel wise,.. so in the new year it will prob be time to call it quits.. I've been wanting to come back as a postie for years. it's a pity the state its got in to..

I’ve been here a few years and it’s really getting me down too. Constantly rushing to get out in the mornings, then when we get back over our time we still have to prep door to doors as we don’t have time in the mornings. It really shouldn’t be a stressful job but I can’t see how it’s going to get any better.
Starting to look for another job it’s just hard to know where to start.

f**k that, if you're over your time, book your s**t back in and clock out. You don't have to do s**t.
If you're told to do it in the morning, do it, but remind them you will have less time out on delivery, that's their call.

Do not buy into the bullshit, stick up for yourself, clock in & clock out, work your hours, loops too long bring it back including tracked, not your problem, quietly quitting is the future

Honestly a weeks down the line you'll love it again.

The worst thing to ever have happened is working with a partner.other people prepping your walk, missorts in bundles, waiting at the van . Much better when we worked solo.

I certainly had some crap partners on van share, but also worked with the same person for many years - even after a re-sign we paired up again. We both knew all of both the rounds, and we both knew how the other liked things bundled etc. After I got out of RM he lasted less than a year before also binning it.

last week we left office last and all we got last 90 mins of our time left was phone calls from manager saying make sure to get the tracked done, and leave the mail, we still ended up back late.. my shared partner said we're not allowed to bring tracked back.

Yes I have done the job ten years and as others have said if you start on the dot (and not a minute sooner), take your full break, work steady away and leave on the dot (and not a minute later) then I would say the job is much the same, indeed in some ways easier. Since you have little chance of completing just do your best and try and relax.

In my 18th year and 62 so feel the same as you physically, the expectation of this company is nowhere near what we can do in the time given, we all know it and so do they.
Meeting and greeting the public is a no-no, you've those tracked to deliver and don't forget your lapsing.
In on time, finish on time and do as instructed in between. If you must do o/t, only until the duty finish time, de-stress and let the management deal with it. I know it's difficult but as has been said, it's the only way. Then again if that doesn't work for you find somewhere more suitable.
