On the contrary, I can think of a reason.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 14:47Can't see it being implemented in do's, we already do the scan to core route scan which subsequently triggers the customer notification of the item having arrived at the do and being out for delivery when we upload the info and log into outdoor prior to leaving the office.
There's no point that I can think of having an extra scan that simply records the item passing through IPS as what we already do records it as arriving at the do and being planned for delivery that day.
At the moment the only scans we can do in a DO result in the customer being told that their parcel is due to be delivered today/between X and Y time.
We do those scans on all parcels regardless of whether there's any hope of that item leaving the building that day.
A scan to simply acknowledge receipt in the office, could be clearer for the customer and beneficial overall. Not having to scramble round doing the delivery not attempted scans at the end of the day, or whatever fiction the manager chooses to play to cover up their failures
(Not for us actually doing the work of course, I don't expect any extra time would be allowed for the extra task

0833 your parcel your parcel is due to be delivered by Cesspit Delivery office

Tbh I did think of that but then thought no chance of them introducing a system that highlights their failures in that way, I know I'm a bit old fashioned but it was always the case that whatever arrives at the do got delivered, yeah I know times have changed but with the current emphasis on parcels I can't see them implementing this scenario.crazyshrew wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 16:33On the contrary, I can think of a reason.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 14:47Can't see it being implemented in do's, we already do the scan to core route scan which subsequently triggers the customer notification of the item having arrived at the do and being out for delivery when we upload the info and log into outdoor prior to leaving the office.

We scan all the tracked parcel as we unload them for sorting into drop bags. We been doing this for years, think we had loads of complaints about parcels being in Bristol mail centre but where at are delivery office not going anywhere

That’s good that the customer will know their non tracked packet has been on someone’s frame for 4 days.

We would be lined up and shot if we helpfully scanned something as, ‘Delivery Not Attempted’.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 16:52Tbh I did think of that but then thought no chance of them introducing a system that highlights their failures in that way, I know I'm a bit old fashioned but it was always the case that whatever arrives at the do got delivered, yeah I know times have changed but with the current emphasis on parcels I can't see them implementing this scenario.crazyshrew wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 16:33On the contrary, I can think of a reason.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑10 Oct 2024, 14:47Can't see it being implemented in do's, we already do the scan to core route scan which subsequently triggers the customer notification of the item having arrived at the do and being out for delivery when we upload the info and log into outdoor prior to leaving the office.

Haha same issue here, same mail centre left lumping the blame that isn't there's too.
The DOM dilemma, ignore the problem and just try to hide it by pretending the parcels never arrived, or scan them and deal with a multitude of complaints because we have told the customers they are getting their parcels today but have absolutely no plan/bodies/vans/PDAs (and whatever else) needed to actually get them out the door.

If, even with my best efforts and leaving behind as much as I think I need to, my day has gone hideously (no one home, wheel fell off HTC or whatever) and I'm close to hometime with a dozen tracked to go, They will come back with me and get that scan. Nothings been said to me. They can't complain that I've been honest and done the correct thing.
*Fun thing I've noticed for anyone that happens to care about these things, scanning them delivery not attempted does not affect your personal first time delivery score.
If chasing those streaks and gold badges is keeping you out long after hours, just stop do the right scans and go home

All this scanning. Half the time the pda wipes what you scan and the battery is already drained by the time you hit the streets.

Re: Extra scans for all packets (both Tracked and normal)
Wouldn't this, technically, make every packet tracked?

It would further increase the monumental issue of customer expectation which RM does not have the staff to satisfy. The more items that are Tracked, the more it fails.

I heard aboit it at MC, that every item coming on LPC machine, will have to be scanned again on the lane and assigned to york. I'm not sure how it's going to work considering how busy it is on lanes.
