If it is, and it likely is, they can’t simply turn up at an office and start testing people. They have to give written notice of their intention to start testing and they must obtain written consent from each employee - they can’t use the app for consent.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

On workplace there is a video with some details about changes to drugs and alcohol policies. The first thing RM is doing is offering support to those that want it. A line manager can refer you for support. No mention of testing but it'll be coming. My dad's old company had a zero tolerance policy for anything and people were dismissed often.

Interesting that there is something on Workplace about it, there was a FB post too so, no smoke without fire as they say and it would provide them with a quick and painless way to get rid of some people who are bothering them.

If you go for the support you have to agree to be tested. Read the article and then the details that are linked to the video.
You also have to go on restricted duties and inform the DVLA and have your license suspended.
In the FAQs it says there is a zero tolerance to drugs and if you do drugs outside of work and are fine to go to work, this is still unacceptable.
It also says the support is just the start of the new policy.

‘Support’ sounds an awful lot like the route to being sacked and your life upended because you’ve also had your license suspended 🙄🙄

If a colleague is at work at unaffected by what they have taken in their own time is this fair? Where are the lines drawn between work time and time off, do companies believe they own the employees because they give them £13 an hour for working like a parcel donkey?!

I doubt many, if any, will take up their offer. It’s not confidential, you have to ask your manager to refer you. You are then on light duties (or sick if not available), lose your license, agree to be tested and god knows what else.
It’s just a get out clause. If you, when (if) it comes in, you get a positive test result they will say “we gave you a chance” and then sack you. Possibly 🤷‍♂️

You need to have it agreed and signed off by the Union.

It's actually not a rumour was discussed at an area reps meeting in london last week.
