Special Delivery Change To Post Office

Post by dirtylibrary »

Hi,

Can customers change special deliveries to local Post Offices? I had a disgruntled customer rant (in the local retail park whilst I was shopping :nervous ), that we’ve tried delivering it to her twice. When it should go to the local post office. Nothing came up on the PDA, just given the special by the locker and off I went to the address on the box.

It’s only Tuesday and it’s been a shite two days. :arrrghhh

Do you scan SD's to your core route? Some people do, some don't. I'm not sure if you do whether an in-flt instruction will pop up.

However, if you don't there is a separate selection on 'In flt' for Special Deliveries - any SD's that have had an in-flt instruction will be on there.

SD's can be changed to collection from local PO, but not somebody else's address (according to the RM website).

I always thought we had to do a delivery attempt before they can request it to be sent to the Post Office?

They can. Usually the rle locker will intercept it and send it on its way before it even gets to you.

Sometimes they get missed but the rle should get the request when they scan the SD to the walk.

No idea if they've corrected this so may not be relevant, but I've noticed our scanners don't recognise the barcodes when they're the new style metered ones. Just like this case, a customer was surprised to receive their special on a second attempt as they'd inflighted it to a Post Office. As it happened they happened to be in so it wasn't an issue but they commented on it. I've noticed it never registers as a second attempt, either. It'll be green like a first attempt and prompt the auto redelivery message, despite the fact I know I've scanned it back in the day before. It obviously scans as normal so prompts a signature and photo, but not any inflight information and the fact it's a second attempt.
