I wouldn't be surprised if us using the app is linked to management bonuses though. We were told last week that the my doorstep tile needs to be viewed once a week. That was reinforced today by me recieving a call whilst out on my walk asking me to just open the app.
Daily for us. I don't think I've remembered to check this week so far. Oops.
(It's part of your job, you have to do it, you signed a wtll saying to do it, blah blah blah)

Yes, I think it’s linked to a bonus for managers. After not mentioning it for weeks, our Lino has asked us to look at it every day this week so far. So I have made a point of not looking at it. He hasn’t resorted to phone calls yet
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’
Being liked to xmas bonus soumds like made up rumours to me because all the people on the new contracts don't get the xmas bonus.
So why would any of them play along?

New contracts don’t get a Christmas bonus?? Unbelievable.

Say you are in a van share and one of you scans the parcel onto the PDA at the office/depot, but the other postie delivers it. Which postie's record does the 'successful' delivery go down to? Is it purely down to whoever scans the parcel out on delivery? - you would hope so.

Yes, the DOM comes round once a week and asks if you've looked at it. Same as the pathetic attempts to get people to sign-up to Workplace at the end of 2021 - IIRC, it was verified that was linked to some bonus.

I'm more inclined to think that it's more likely to be linked to the managers bonus rather than ours!
Yet another reason to completely ignore the My Doorstep app. Much of the data is completely useless to a postie. If you can’t deliver 1st time, you can’t improve on that by trying really hard. It’s in the lap of the gods.
Equally, idling. The more parcels you have, the more idling time you have. Do they want us to keep the van moving and just throw parcels in the general direction of the houses?
Ridiculousness.
I'd guess idling means leaving the engine running while not moving. You shouldn't leave the engine running when you're not in the van.

Idling means two things: one is the van running whilst stationary, the other is you being stationary.

My driver was adamant that he did not leave the van running all the time to rack up 15+ minutes per day. I pointed out that per loop, trying to get parked and trying to merge back into traffic might take up thirty seconds on each end, sitting at traffic lights and give way lines could be up to a minute at at time. Multiply that by eight loops and you have 15 right there, and then fighting your way through school traffic on the way back makes up for the scrapped flights.
We could switch the ignition off, although that's a risk we're not willing to take when the van constantly complains about needing more AdBlue.

Working later + rush hour traffic = more van idling.
If they want it reduced then we should either start/finish earlier or they should issue us with eco friendly vans. There is no way I'm switching off these rust buckets in busy traffic given the very strong possibility that the van doesn't start.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

On another tack, are they really going to force van turning off during the winter when you need a heater?
