The manager often preps or gets someone else to help me prep as unfortunately I'm not one of those who is daft enough to come in and work over an hour for free.

If I'm asked to put in all the D2Ds for the full week on a Monday then it's likely that I won't be leaving the office till gone 11.30am. That means that I may only have to do 3 loops or so plus any large Tracked items. Thankfully, we got docket boys who like their ghost overtime taking work off me :thumbup

Managers don't prep... That's a failure.
All in Monday is the future, the goal. Iceland and dominos are better than first class and medical.

Hmmmm.....For a business that wants to cut down on delivering letters they certainly seem to be going the right way about it

Most in our office come one/two hours early Monday/Tuesday in their own time to chuck their D2Ds in, when questioned the answer is "mind your own business" or "if I didn't who else is going to do it" I put it down to low education & they are covering up for there own weaknesses :arrrghhh

We have one that comes in two hours early every day regardless. " I like to get ahead" he's always last out and last back, he gets nowhere. Over 20 years and the penny hasn't dropped yet.

RM should pull their finger out and work with the d2d companies to get all d2ds with addresses on them and machine sortable, they we could sequence them along with the other mech mail
Dunno if the Courier is still going, but maybe royal mail should instead do a free magazine for the public (not royal mail focused of course) that contains adverts...

Benefits of doing this:

-You can fit more adverts in a magazine (more income?)
-Your staff only have to deliver 1 item instead of anything between 2 to 7 leaflets (more efficient).

Only royal mail will know if this idea would make them more money or not, if they've even thought of it.
We have exactly this D2D already. It comes out twice a month.

I don't get it. Is it OCD or something similar?. Maybe some people simply like to have that 'sense of achievement' feeling by getting their duty done. Also, some people will do it because they don't want hassle from managers telling them they are slow.

Why do this for free? absolutely mental. They might as well move onto the new 40 hour contracts, these people doing free work are probably getting paid the equivalent or less.

Are you trying to make yourself look dumb in another thread now? Best keep it to the relevant topic eh? We don’t need another resident forum jackass taking over now CarryingMGMT has been banned again.

We're supposed to put in 20% a day but some walks are staffed by part timers and there have been times when no-one has put those D2Ds in the frame for weeks on end so they end up getting taken away by managers after a while. Last time I saw this happen was during the election campaign. A walk had six weeks worth under the frame one day, all gone the next. Amongst them was an election leaflet from the local Lib-Dem run council.
I was once asked to fill a PT posties frame with the leaflets that were underneath it. 21 leaflets into every slot! I didn't do the whole frame but even so, I bet the postie was delighted the next day!
There'll be a little clampdown for a few weeks then things start slipping again such as when a postie is on leave and their round doesn't get covered apart from parcels. Some get quite arsey on their return and refuse to do the D2Ds from the week they were off. I'm also aware of one postie who won't put in the 20% that were due on their day off each week.

Something similar. It's shame and anxiety about failure to meet expectations, about disappointing people, about being "bad" if you identify as good and see completing/ succeeding as "being good". It's all to do with self worth and if your self image is tied into your ability to do a good job, you are likely to go further than you ought to to do that. Management are a disgrace for putting so many people like this in such an impossible position where they cannot succeed at their job, often even if they are doing some of it for free!

I think by nature a lot of people want to do a good job and have pride in what they do. They want to complete and now it's impossible a lot of the time. Continuous perceived failure can have serious impacts on a persons mental health. It is not always possible to just switch off from it. Especially for the long serving hard workers who have seen the terrible decline of the service.

This is very true.

Music to my ears less walking spending more time on a Monday and Tuesday putting them in ,i have double slots in most of my frame, by Wednesday mine are all done and i have had 3 easy days with less walking absolute result, do as your told .
Unless you have a fully and property staffed office and a manager on the ball, I think you are in for a shock.
Not me start on time finish on time ,no shock for me i've been cutting off everyday for the last 10 years, still here doing the same thing ,easiest job i've ever had,do the job as trained and its easy, just laugh at the boss they make the rules .
