More of a time issue, Monday and Tuesday are shorter hours at our DO, so throwing 4 or 5 D2Ds in eats into your timeA2B wrote: ↑24 Sep 2024, 22:28One of the best reasons to get everyone to put them in on a MondayTooManyLoops wrote: ↑24 Sep 2024, 22:02
That doesn't stop the twats from ripping the labels off and dumping them on other fittings though

Monday's now our longest day or will be . Apparently we get 40 mins to prep them per frame.TooManyLoops wrote: ↑25 Sep 2024, 17:15More of a time issue, Monday and Tuesday are shorter hours at our DO, so throwing 4 or 5 D2Ds in eats into your timeA2B wrote: ↑24 Sep 2024, 22:28One of the best reasons to get everyone to put them in on a MondayTooManyLoops wrote: ↑24 Sep 2024, 22:02

Couple of questions the OP, who does the d2ds when its your long weekend or tuesdays off and how much time do you get to prep, because d2ds vary not just in numbers but how easy they are to actually prep.
At our place its always been take where you go and no set rules on when you prep them, as long as they get done. For many a year a lot of people would just let the addresses with d2ds left in at the end of the week to roll over into the next week, personally i clear them all off by the end of the week.

Having them all in on Monday or Tuesday means that sorting takes longer, redirections take longer, bagging up takes longer.... because the door2doors get in the way of the mail.
Having the door2doors all in at once isn't efficient because of this.

For the last few years RM have told us a d2d is to be treated exactly the same as mail, prep them in on a Monday and if you run out of time to complete the duty ask your manager if you can book overtime (if you want it) or tell them you're cutting off.
I think the days of offical prep times for d2d are long gone

What you have described has never been the case in our office.A2B wrote: ↑25 Sep 2024, 18:13For the last few years RM have told us a d2d is to be treated exactly the same as mail, prep them in on a Monday and if you run out of time to complete the duty ask your manager if you can book overtime (if you want it) or tell them you're cutting off.

Unless you have a fully and property staffed office and a manager on the ball, I think you are in for a shock.guardianangel wrote: ↑25 Sep 2024, 18:08Music to my ears less walking spending more time on a Monday and Tuesday putting them in ,i have double slots in most of my frame, by Wednesday mine are all done and i have had 3 easy days with less walking absolute result, do as your told .

RM should pull their finger out and work with the d2d companies to get all d2ds with addresses on them and machine sortable, they we could sequence them along with the other mech mail

Dunno if the Courier is still going, but maybe royal mail should instead do a free magazine for the public (not royal mail focused of course) that contains adverts...SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 Sep 2024, 19:37RM should pull their finger out and work with the d2d companies to get all d2ds with addresses on them and machine sortable, they we could sequence them along with the other mech mail
Benefits of doing this:
-You can fit more adverts in a magazine (more income?)
-Your staff only have to deliver 1 item instead of anything between 2 to 7 leaflets (more efficient).
Only royal mail will know if this idea would make them more money or not, if they've even thought of it.

I would prefer them to do targeted marketing instead, I mean what's the point of delivering loft ladder D2Ds to tower blocks or gardening services to flats. Just boils my piss how much time is wasted on these

Re: All d2ds need to be in by Tuesday and take where your going
We’ve had managers helping to prep them in this week, not a bad way to earn £43k.
