Royal Mail's Grimsby Delivery Office will host a special open day this week for any jobseekers who are interested in working at the heart of the community.

From 11am to 2pm on Wednesday, September 25, members of the public are invited to the Royal Mail Delivery Office on Fotherby Street, Grimsby to find out more about the opportunities available.

19 driving vacancies with immediate start dates are currently on offer, for which a full UK driving licence is required. Contracts include 30 hours per week, with pay rates starting at £12.54 per hour.

On the day, visitors will have the chance to meet the Customer Operations Manager and some of the team to find out more about the roles.

Customer Operations Manager for Grimsby, Martin Burke, said: “Our posties work at the heart of the communities they serve. The Open Day will be a great opportunity for locals in the area interested in working for Royal Mail to come along to meet the team and learn more about the role and the company.”

A full UK manual driving licence with no more than six points is required. All offers of employment are dependent upon the completion of pre-employment checks to the standard required by Royal Mail policy and legislation.

Good grief, the desperation. Will the interested members of the public be asked to close their eyes as they traverse the shop floor?

Also, what's with the yellow wheelarches on the Combos? I'd seen that in my own office on one and assumed they just couldn't source a red replacement part.
The machine stops.

19 vacancies for an immediate start...

What is going on in that office to warrant that many? Sounds to me like management have successfully p*ssed off existing staff and can start recruiting the new ones on inferior pay, terms and cons.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

As long as they get enough to see them through Christmas, it will be a result.

Unless someone from Grimsby can correct me, there are around 115 duties in that office so that's under 20% which is in line with what I've read about other offices. My office has 30% of duties up for signing next week.

I’m assuming that BMW in the picture is the managers car. Used to make me laugh (ok, maybe laugh isn’t the right word for it), we’d have huge signs at the entrance saying no private cards in the yard, WTL about security and not bringing anything other than RM vehicles in the yard. But if you were a manager, line manager, DOM or COM or any variation, by all means bring your car in, and while you’re at it please feel free to pump up your tyres and use the vehicle wash facilities.
The day is gonna come when we’re all gonna have to testify.
