Retired but still being paid

I retired 3 weeks ago but still on the people's app and still being paid.
I got what I thought would be my final one last week as I got the outstanding leave I was owed paid out.
AVCs still going into my pension etc. I gave 6 weeks notice so I don't understand it.
Once they realise their mistake anyone know how it will be recovered?;

Say nothing and block all contact with RM, they are shortfalling most people who leave so you can start to balance it back in the workers favour, you are a poor pensioner now and can't afford more than a £1 a week if they ever catch on.

Don't worry, a friend of mine worked for RM many years ago and moved abroad. They were still paying him 8 months after he left and haven't asked to be paid back.

That will do for me ! Started back in the 70s so keep thinking I'd had my last pay slip !

It may simply be that they now dissect your work history and you are actually in credit, they owe.

Bad advice. You only get the "pay it back weekly" option if you're still an employee. If you've left they'll want it back as a lump sum, and if you can't/won't pay you'll get a CCJ and bailiffs.

Funny but true . How often I have to remind the boss ... No he's off for two weeks, and a long weekend.

Happend to me when I first left in 2012, ended up with a CCJ and had to make monthly payments to debt recovery.. I would advise to inform them soon as you can, don't spend it!

Morning, yes I sent an email this morning , I gave 6 weeks notice so they had plenty of notice .

Hi, yes you're right Tman, I sent email this morning. I had already informed HRMC 2 weeks ago so I could have tax sorted put !

Happened to me last year - got to about 10 weeks before they realised. Initially thought it was for the six weeks annual leave I hadn’t taken, but after about the third/fourth week I decided to bank it just incase it wasn’t. Sure enough, was still getting paid after 7/8 weeks so was fairly obvious it was a mistake. Decided not to say anything and hope for the best. On the 11th week, my access to the People App was revoked and hadn’t been paid on the Friday.

Unfortunately contacted me and asked for the £5,000 back. Didn’t respond to their first or second letters - purely out of ignorance more than anything. The third letter threatened legal action should I not pay it back within five days. It was an easy enough process to send the money back: just a bank transfer.

I’d recommend saying nothing but also not spending it, just in case they ask for it back.

How does that work with tax and NI though?
I mean, do they expect you to just repay the amount you've been given and you have to then get that tax back somehow?
