It was a screenshot of a DPR route.

Siding with managers will get you precisely nowhere. They’ll penalise you along with the rest of us.

Nice to see barnacle accepted they were wrong.?
Think that’s probably as close as we’ll get to a concession she was wrong :-)

This is not a forum for catfish. We’re not 12. We’re anonymous so that we don’t get into real world trouble for what we say about work.

That doesn’t mean a person should lie about what their actual job at work is. If you are a DPR driver, don’t pretend to be a postie. If you are a manager or one of the pretendy managers don’t pretend you aren’t.

The content of people’s posts makes their role obvious.

Please forgive me smoothbackground as I'm not picking on anybody here. Just trying to get some understanding of your delivery office.

So when you finished at 11.30 on this duty, what was your actual finish time? You said that longstanding staff don't like new entrants and are telling them to slow down as they are making them "look bad". I'm not trying to be Columbo here but are you getting paid any extra when you come back to the office early and go back out loaded with extra work?

So does it really matter if she is a postie or manager.

We do not want opinions from others viewpoints shut down because people are anti manager or anti postie. Managers opnions are just as valid as Posties as long as trhey are expressed in a polite and non confrontational manner. I mean we even have it in our rules viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11169

Just because someone has a different viewpoint or political position to you, it does not mean that they are a 'Manager' or a 'Union fanatic', any posts making such assumptions or generalisations will be pulled or amended and the poster warned. This also applies to posts that are not aimed at individuals but at groups.

So please stop with this your a manager crap, it makes no differemce.
Yes it does matter

If someone is masquerading as a postie when they are a manager or vice versa then of course it matters - especially when their opinions are often inflammatory in nature designed to get people's backs up. Managers should be allowed to post freely but people who clearly are managers but pretending to be 'new starts' and such like and trolling? Nah, I dont want to be part of a forum where a moderator thinks its ok for such practises to go on so im done with this place.
But the vitroil on here from people who try to shut down managers means to avoid confrontation they have to pretend to be posties or new starters.

I am not saying don't question what they post, indeed challenege it, but do not use the "oh you are just a manager" to dismiss and shut them down. Use logic and sensible argumnets to prove your point.

Mate, its a bit weird coming on here pretending not to be a manager when its clear to most of the forum you are never the female postie you claim you are.
Is not challenging their arguments its an attempt to shut them down because you disagree with them
I think you may be a manager but you are wrong, and here is why
You are calling them out on being a manager but you are explaining why.

There is a difference and the one thing I don't want on here is a Trump like Cult where only certain people can post and everyone else is seen as our enemy.

Also to warn Managers - if you come on here trolling or pretending to be a postie just to cause division, and its blatant then you will be kicked from RoyalMailChat.

If the ‘Royal Mail scandal’, we were to ‘Watch out for’, turns out to be the proposed hike in the CEO’s wages, it will be a bit of a letdown.

Managing failures is a prickly subject, but surely nobody could argue against rotating failures so that EVERY walk fails a couple of times a fortnight rather than several failing for 4-5-6 days in a row.
If it were a temporary problem, sure. I got moved off my duty a bunch of times during Covid without throwing a tantrum, as much as it annoyed me. It's been going on for nearly half a decade now so it has long since worn thin on people.
yeah, it is understandable that people are getting annoyed by it, but there is clearly an issue with giving every duty a 'turn' at being left in for a few days here and there.

It grinds you down and becomes a slog. A temporary measure you can live with but day after day for months is not funny.

If there were a proper rota to deal with it that would go some way toward fairly managing the situation, rather than favouratism and path-of-least-resistence management. The whole thing is obviously now permanent yet still handled completely ad hoc.

Not that I would trust them to produce a proper rota, as any reserve can attest.
The machine stops.

No, you’re very welcome to ask questions, Pete.

I am on a 40-hour new-entrant contract. At the minute, my hours are 7.00 am to 3.20 pm. As such, on finishing the firms duty I will come back to the office and take more work so as to take me up to my finish time.

TBT, I have to date shared on this forum: (i) a redacted copy of my offer letter; (ii) a screenshot from MyPerformance of activity for 11 September; (iii) excerpts from my payslip; and (iv) a photo of me stood at the rear of my van. I don’t know what else I can do to prove my bona fides. As I hope you will appreciate, it is difficult/impossible for me to prove or disprove a negative.

The issue for me is how they are going to do all this fairly so that everyone is rotating their shift. We have staff that will only work their day off if it's on their own duty; they won't touch anyone else's especially those on singleton rounds.

As I recall you said you started as a postie having previously worked at Amazon and then with an agency working for Royal Mail, so I don't know why anyone would doubt you. Why would people assume you're not who you say you are?

I think it might be due to a North/South divide when it comes to delivery offices. No one finishes at 11.30 in our office and I once trained a guy who was from down South years ago who said how cushy some of the duties were in London and how much overtime they could claim within their hours as managers were that desperate to clear walks. I am going back about a decade though and thinking back now, he only lasted a week!

I think it’s just a case of certain forum members resorting to baseless allegations when they have no sensible or logical argument to what is being said.

They’re definitely not all cushy like this one. As far as I know, this is the only duty in my office that can be done so quickly. And just to clarify, the duty-holder doesn’t finish it at 11.30 am latest — he “longs it out” until 2.45 pm each and every day and complains very loudly about how difficult it is, so much so that he can never lapse, never take out large for the adjoining paired walks, often refuses to do his own large, etc, etc.
