They need to put a stop to this taking 20 mins at the end of the shift and leaving early.
Why? It negates some of the impact of later finishes, and is it practical to always take a 20 minute break outdoors? It ain't too bad in reasonable weather, but at peak summer or winter you're really sitting in a van for 20 minutes? What if you're on a trolley and you're literally exposed to driving rain, the cold or extreme heat with nowhere to go?
By leaving early you're not actually taking your break, you're just leaving early. Once RM link SISO data to pay, that'll put a stop to anyone leaving early

Why would you sit in your van for 20mins? You could go to a shop and buy a hot drink, potter about, then get back to work. That’s what I do.
Do you potter about in pis--ng rain? as that what is being asked.
I potter about, in the shop. Why would I stand outside ?

Taking a break doesn’t mean you have to sit on your backside for 20 minutes. You are allowed to do what you like in your break.

It’s part of their plan. First they want to do it for overtime. Once that happens it will be only a matter of time until it is standard.
They’ve started doing it for overtime at our place and guess what! The number of people willing to do overtime has dried up :chuckle

Who could have predicted that?!?! It’s such a horrible idea. You agree to help them clear and then get penalised.

Is your office small, medium or large?

DO you have to 20 mins before going out and 20mins out there?
manager on my case for taking it all in one go out there.

what’s the official policy?
All depends on what's agreed. The actual agreement is roundly ignored as most offices have 20 minutes at the end.

It's pretty simple.
If you want to do extra and only get paid that time, string it out.
If you don't, go home.
There's no argument, ghosting is nearly gone.
If the o/t doesn't get done it's not our problem.

It should be for additional pay but the hourly rate reduces on overtime making only minimal overtime worthwhile.

When I first started years ago, if you did half a walk on OT you got half a day's pay. Always made time, office was clear every day
Now we're a privatised business the bean counters hunched over their desks are determined to put a stop to that perk & only pay you the hours you work, which results in less people volunteering for OT, especially at the rates currently paid. Offices are not clearing.
This talk of SISO linked to pay seems to have some merit, certainly when linked to OT, but I don't see a scenario where you lose basic pay for finishing early, you simply don't finish early. Whether that means going back out with a couple of bundles or staying in the office prepping remains to be seen.

There's a guy in our office sits at home for anything between an hour and an hour and a half everyday and fails mail everyday. Why isn't that picked up on? The managers been told time after time about it , but does nothing about it.

Good question, it must show on his PDA records plus if he has a van the Trimble records, I'm pretty sure this would be a sackable offence, surely if you worked anywhere else and returned 40 minutes or whatever late from lunch break every day you'd be history pretty sharpish.
