DO you have to 20 mins before going out and 20mins out there?

Depending on how long your shift is, you might not actually have 40mins total time

I personally think a break is a break and you take it when you need it. But the union rep will probably know the official line in your office.

Local agreement. Virtually everybody just takes the 20 off their finish time at our place then 20 before going out. Sitting in a van for 40 minutes out there would drive me mad personally, but each to their own.

Why? It negates some of the impact of later finishes, and is it practical to always take a 20 minute break outdoors? It ain't too bad in reasonable weather, but at peak summer or winter you're really sitting in a van for 20 minutes? What if you're on a trolley and you're literally exposed to driving rain, the cold or extreme heat with nowhere to go?

It’s part of their plan. First they want to do it for overtime. Once that happens it will be only a matter of time until it is standard.
