Implementing a Wallington Week

Post by IndigoK9 »

Hi everyone! Hoping for some advice please. We’re hoping to implement a Wallington week for a group of 6. But I’m wondering how to start it correctly? Anyone that is on one or helped set it up, any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I think one issue would be recording what point everyone started it as in theory you need to work 5 weeks to in effect save up 5 days off that you've worked in order to have the full week off, when you start someone will instantly be on week off and so on until the final person on the rotation has to do the full five weeks, this would only become an issue when people either went back onto a different attendance or left.

Oh and don't forget you need to use six days worth of leave for a week's holiday.

There's nothing you need to do apart from implement it. It will mean an adjustment in leave calculations as you will use more hours to have a week off. There's not really a lot more to it. It's a rotational pattern just like all the others you need to make sure that there's none of this saving up time nonsense it's not. Beware of any sickness as other workers on the Wally's have been told they owe time. They don't.

Good luck to you but I'm surprised your DOM has given the ok for this given the way RM is currently being run.

Whoever is on rest week 1 is basically getting a free week off as they haven't built up their block of 5 rest days , yes they have to work 6 days a week for 5 weeks but then they get another week off.

Week 6 is the only person who's built up enough rest days in the first 6 week rotation unless I've got it totally wrong?

That's what I thought, I think management are supposed to record this so if someone were to leave or change to a different rotation then any hours owed either way can be sorted out

In the past I've never heard of queries over who built the correct days up.

We have even had people move duties from week 6 to week 1 and nothing was said but it's a different RM these days
