Anyone any idea.
I had a week's leave left over from last year, and have been on sick since March 2024, I'm now on half pay and this week my manager put my week from last year down as me on leave this week, so I've been paid a full week.
1. If I've not been able to use that week due to not being at work, shouldn't it be left as it is.
2. Should they have informed me they were doing it
3. Should they have used some of it each week to boost my half pay instead of using it all and in a way me losing 18.5 hours pay that I should have got for being sick
Please help

Re: Sick since March, leftover holidays.
Legally the use of annual leave when off sick is completely the employees choice.
The reasons management might unilaterally decide to do it can range from genuinely wanting to help, as in your specific circumstance to ease any financial strain.
Or perhaps more selfish reasons, not wanting to deal with the headache of trying to accommodate accrued annual leave in the future.
Down to the downright cruel... splitting the absence up creates 2 periods of sick, artificially accelerating someone through the trigger points in the attendance review procedure.
It absolutely shouldn't have happened without a discussion with you

Thank you so much, they've decided to do it themselves without an consultation. Now I know they have made a mess. No surprise there. Thanks again

They can't, but that is the new annual leave carry over policy. I think the manager has done the right thing, especially since they are on half pay.

That's what I was thinking too, wasn't there something in the new carry over policy that if you don't use it you lose it so yeah this is maybe a good thing.CornishCracker wrote: ↑07 Sep 2024, 11:17They can't, but that is the new annual leave carry over policy. Does it not also state if your on sick leeway will be given to carry extra leave forward.CornishCracker wrote: ↑07 Sep 2024, 11:17They can't, but that is the new annual leave carry over policy. I think the manager has done the right thing, especially since they are on half pay.
