Second class letter deliveries on Saturdays could be cut

We still have over 50% of the walks left in every day.. first class second class makes no odds.

I can't even conceive the idea of any office being clear, we haven't been for a decade, but now it's worse than ever. Well over 50% left behind, small untracked packets swamping frames. A revision ongoing and going to make things a lot worse.

Is the revision tabletop or being done by overpaid external planners?

Planners. Their timings are farcical I would give examples but it would be identifying. They are ploughing on regardless of input. Our duties are five + hours already and they are being added to by over an hour. But their sums work.

Actually this could work & save RM money, less staff in on a Saturday, Monday to Friday duties, no rota or day off cover needed, makes perfect sense, for once a good idea from RM

Does anyone know what % of mail per day is 2nd class versus 1st class mail?

Also, not been mentioned here yet, but they are hiking 1st Class stamps by £0.30 to £1.65..... RIP letters, surely this increase will decrease letter volumes by a big % over the next year or so. Xmas cards are not worth sending anymore at that price.

Probably around 80-90% of Xmas cards are 2C these days

It would be good to know that number. A scan of my mail today and I only had 3 1st class, and I had double mail. I think they are edging the price of 1st up to being the same as a tracked letter to then make people opt for tracked 1st instead.

I rarely deliver Tracked 24 letters unless it's a Moonpig card, do non commercial customers even use them?

It's a seemingly clever move by RM, they've sensed OFCOM will eventually approve their plans to only deliver 2c mail, so are going to price 1c mail so highly that no customers will routinely use it anyway.
