Hi, I'm waiting to see if I'm successful in getting a transfer to the Midlands Superhub in Daventry. I've heard that people who move there will be asked to apply for their jobs again after being there for 3 months, basically sign a new contract which I guess will be on much worse terms and conditions. Does anyone know about this practice, if true, and can Royal Mail legally do this?
Thanks for any info.

Don't think it'll be too long before realignment and resigns become yearly in MCs at least, though probably in all types of office eventually

I'm saying that you will have to reapply for your Royal Mail career again, under a new pay structure and less holiday entitlement. If you don't accept the new terms and conditions then it's bye-bye. That is what I've been told by a couple of my colleagues at my current Mail Centre. Are there any OPGs at the Midlands Superhub that can confirm or deny this rumour? Thanks.

If they extend it to DOs as well then ALL DO staff will then have to be able to drive for RM. RM are probably testing the waters to see if they can get away with ittez44 wrote: ↑13 Aug 2024, 10:49I'm saying that you will have to reapply for your Royal Mail career again, under a new pay structure and less holiday entitlement. During the CWU Live session at 5 pm today, Martin Walsh stated that people transferring to a different Mail Centre or office are being put on new entrants terms and conditions. He also said that the union are looking into this issue. I guess that I won't be transferring anywhere.

Another cock up by the CWU that has been allowed to happen and they hhave not challenged it yet. And the CWU say we members are being unreasonable in our expectationstez44 wrote: ↑15 Aug 2024, 18:53During the CWU Live session at 5 pm today, Martin Walsh stated that people transferring to a different Mail Centre or office are being put on new entrants terms and conditions. For reference this is the video and the exact time Martin mentions the issue...tez44 wrote: ↑15 Aug 2024, 18:53During the CWU Live session at 5 pm today, Martin Walsh stated that people transferring to a different Mail Centre or office are being put on new entrants terms and conditions. You can rewind to the start of the "New Entrance" segment to see what he's says in total. Like with a lot of the CWU replies, when ask "what are you doing about X?" they just explain what is happening, what they don't like, and just about avoid shrugging on camera with a "what can we do right?" attitude.

I can't believe that the CWU didn't know about this. Fxxxxxg unbelievable. So you could be a 30/35 year staff member coming in from the cold ( DOs) and they expect you to work for about £1200 per year less and drop any reserved driving/ phg allowances which is £26 per week. Plus night duty payment is about £28 lower for new starters. WTF. And a once great union wonders why there having trouble keeping staff in the union and onboarding the new contract staff. New fresh leadership, all the way from the top to the bottom is needed. You have very good union bods still doing there best but at the top, well what can I say. We talk to other unions all the time and some are saying that RM is a testbed to see how much they can get away with destroying terms and conditions of workers and how far they can be pushed. We are having problems in DWP also due to downgrading of staff and dining in temps but nowhere near CWU problems. Wishing yous well for the future.rainbowwarrior72 wrote: ↑25 Aug 2024, 22:30Another cock up by the CWU that has been allowed to happen and they hhave not challenged it yet.
