Regarding Ill health retirement

I spoke to my boss the other week about being Ill health retired. I was told I would likely not get it as I don’t have a terminal illness and my condition which is mental and physical can be controlled by medication, I was also told that the process would be long.
I have instead been giving an option to take compensation, a lump sum to leave.
Has anyone been in this type of situation where they have been ill health retired or been giving compensation, and if so, how much was you offered.
I don’t pay into a pension, but I’ve been told that I would still be given a sum.
I feel like I have a case to go down the route of Ill health retirement as I come under the disability act, and they can’t meet my needs to carry out light duties.

I think Ihr payment is around 14k plus any holiday accrued.. What did you get offered +

Your manager cannot advise you whether you will get IHR or not. If you have a disability and cannot perform your duties they have to make reasonable adjustments. Only OH can decide. Ask for a referral to OH and take it from there.
I can guarantee the lump sum offer from the management will be nowhere near the IHR equivalent.

I got ill health.
Of course, they just don’t want to deal with any paperwork etc.
The lump sum would have been taxable too.

I've been offered the same thing from my manager as i havent got a diagnosis yet. Can I ask how much the lump sum would have been?

I've recently finished on an Executive Compromise Agreement. I was a walking postman for 34 years and due to retire next May. I'd been on the sick since Febuary with problems with my right foot, hip/lower back and shoulder. Because of the new sick leave agreements, I was going to be on zero pay from the 11th of this month. I would have preferred to gone out on IHR but with no sign of that on the horizon I took the deal. I feel a little bit like I'd been backed into a corner but, as I couldn't physically do the job and there was no other work for me, I took the deal. Absolutey no regrets about leaving now, but it used to be a job I loved. I had good people working with me and I have to say for the most part good managers. Sad to see the state of things now.
