Does anyone always get shafted on 2 walk parcels ?

Post by Custard Jelly »

I mean doing parcel duty on 2 walks.
The ones that know most of the walks. Always seem to get shafted.

The ones that stay on there own walk. Only know 1 walk lol. They always moan and groan. Nothing gets said to them.

Then next day I/we have try clear 2/3/4 days Mail which is not easy. Always have fight with managers. What they want us to do.

I usually rotate the failure.

Short staff/sickness through the roof in all offices.

Even worse when you return from holiday and you have a weeks worth of Mail lol.

I wouldn't worry to much on what gets cleared and what doesn't.

We all have a start and finish time, do what you can within that time don't stress, go home forget about work rinse and repeat.

It's up to management to try and get walks covered not your job. Just keep the PDA rolling and they won't say anything to you.

What I mean by keep the PDA rolling, just referring to keeping yourself moving.

Don't stop for too long, unless you need to go to the toilet which everyone needs to go.

Been like this since i started, the more you do the more they expect. It's like you have mug stamped on your forehead.
Take the advice, work to your time,do the job to the letter of what they expect from you. You will eventually be left alone, take it from one who's been there.

If you're coming to 2+ days of mail, you have a choice, you either work overtime to get everything completed OR you stand your ground and insist that you don't want to work past your time. Managers can't expect you to complete otherwise and if you're getting too much grief from them, speak to your Area rep and raise a grievance.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

SO MUCH THIS!! and don't feel guilty about it, RM management created this unmanageable workload, not it's workers

I sometimes think it's a bit simplistic in cases like this to say 'work to time or do overtime'. The original poster makes a good point, and it comes down to management managing the failures , or not. Nobody wants to come into work faced with multiple days mail whilst steps are taken to clear other ones each day - if it was that desirable then there would be people demanding that their frame is left in for a few days and they have to pick up the pieces - funny that  Our failed duties tend to get fairly evenly rotated, there are exceptions of course. If it comes to pass that no-one has a set duty anymore, then maybe failures will be managed better.

That would be good, ut as a duty holder I would miss having me own duty, still if it came down to your duty not going out for a week (which happened to me 2 Januarys ago) I guess it would be good...

I would love it. More time to prep your walk, less walking. More time spent at each address, less walking :dance :dance

Hey I'm a Duty holder and never on my duty it gets lapsed everyday, i get punted around on other duties, now they want me to learn another duty to add to my collection on duties I know, can I refuse to get trained and demand my duty?
