Payslip Terminology...

Post by dan_skadan »

Hi,

Could someone help me understand the latest terminology I have on my payslip please - what do the following mean?

HP NPens OT

and

HP Pens SSPR

Guessing OT is overtime and HP holiday pay?
They were both preceded by 'Arrears of...' if that makes a difference.

Cheers!

I reckon they are
Holiday pay non pensionable overtime, so that over the fulltime 37 hours
And the same but pensionable, so that under 37 hours, the one you also get the delivery allowance included in
Arrears is obs self defined but not sure of the difference, cos isn't it all in arrears anyway
I've got the non pensionable one, both standard and arrears on mine this week
If you've not seen the msg and additional info in the app about changes to the average OT holiday pay have a look

Sorry, a bit late in replying but thank you for your response - I'll keep an eye on what this weeks payslip is saying.

I had the same thing, here is the reply when I posted an enquiry.

Thank you for your enquiry,

“I noticed I received a payment on tax week 18 for hp npens ot and hp pens sspr.

I wondered what this was?”

Holiday overtime payment is paid if you meet the criteria of working a minimum of 8 hours’ overtime in each of the six periods prior to the period in which you take holiday.

The payment is payable when you take annual leave, paid for 4 weeks in the annual leave year.

What are the criteria that I need to meet in order to receive a payment?

Eligibility for overtime holiday pay is dependent upon an employee working a minimum of 8 hours’ overtime in each of the six periods/months (see below) prior to the period/month in which they take holiday. This is different to the fixed 6 monthly periods (broadly April to September, and October to March) that was used for the manual calculations.

Weekly paid employees will have their eligibility assessed against overtime performed in the six Royal Mail financial periods (broadly equivalent to a month) prior to taking holiday.

Monthly paid employees will have their eligibility assessed against overtime performed in the six calendar months prior to taking holiday.

This distinction in approach based upon pay frequency is referred to as ‘periods/months’ in the rest of the FAQ.

If you pass the overtime regularity threshold, all your non-contractual overtime worked across the prior 6-month financial period / calendar months will be factored into your overtime holiday pay calculation.

Is there a limit on the amount of holiday pay that can be paid?

What is the hourly rate calculated at as I believe it is not our usual rate. Why is that?

They will cap the holiday pay if you’ve had too much in a year or however they work it out.

If someone did 10 hours overtime per week every week for a 6 month period and qualified for the holiday pay what would they receive? 10 hours holiday pay per week?

Yes, in theory but it's limited to a maximum of 20 days holiday p.a. It gets complicated if your manager has put though OT as SA if you've covered a collection duty etc as only OT is paid.

Capped in what way?

Surely if you are in holiday for the 4 weeks applicable you get the average hours worked?

Not the average hours worked but at a rate of 60-70% of the regular hourly pay.

For 4 weeks I think it works like that. For anything over 4 weeks you get zero.

Heinous already been paid the overtime this is extra and was fought for several years ago and RM hated having to pay it. And don't thank the DAY because they didn't want to know anything about it until the lawyers and industrial tribunals got involved.
