Wasn’t someone on here saying that parcel volumes were down? Like I keep saying, parcels are the future for RM.

There’s every reason to doubt and not believe every single statement. It was a statement aimed at the stock market. They only like positive spin.
Parcel volumes are at a level and aren’t increasing apart from minor peaks and troughs. If they want to increase volumes they ought to have been investing in Yodel or Evri, to take their market share. But they have instead done absolutely nothing to increase volumes.

According to Royal Mail we make more revenue from parcels than we do letters. However, parcels are a very competitive industry with no guarantee that we will increase our market share over our competitors. Our only USP over these couriers is delivering letters and we only profit as a company when we deliver parcels with these letters.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

No disrespect to you, but I’ll accept the 11% growth figure given in the market update rather than your anecdotal feeling that “parcel volumes are at a level and aren’t increasing”. Unless you are suggesting — or alleging, rather — that the company secretary and board are committing criminal offences in misleading investors and the market at large??Barnacle wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 09:37Smoothbackground wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 08:13Then the provenance and veracity of the figures is beyond doubt.Barnacle wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 07:12Based on the press release issued by Royal Mail.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 07:06According to The Telegraph.[Parcels]… earned the company more than half of its £7.8bn in revenues last year. Oh not this again. I have posted the parcel volumes pre pandemic to the last tax year several times on this forum. Those are based on RM’s own figures.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑23 Jul 2024, 17:35No disrespect to you, but I’ll accept the 11% growth figure given in the market update rather than your anecdotal feeling that “parcel volumes are at a level and aren’t increasing”. No one has suggested any illegality. It is about the presentation of information and who the target audience is. If you choose to not look under the bonnet, that is absolutely your choice. I’m more of a realist.
Have a great day.
