Breaking down after duty finish time

Why rush back with the collection mail??? Finish your tracks. If you're back for the lorry you're back. It's no big deal missing it. Bosses moaning about OT annoy the life out of me. It's as if its out of their own pockets!! They're just worried about keeping their budgets sweet to get them their bonuses!!!

Would you think that way if you'd rushed to post a 1c letter or T24 item only to find it wasn't delivered because the collection missed the wagon?

I couldn't tell you what time the wagon comes to collect the collections at our office. We also haven't been told to get our collections back by a certain time either. It comes back when I come back. If I've missed one lorry there'll always be another. I certainly don't rush to bring it back. It comes back when my delivery is complete

Collections are due back at mc every day at a certain cut off time otherwise classed as a failure

There used to be hard and fast time to have box collections back at the DO. It was somewhere around 1-1.30pm. Some people would give me their collection stuff to take back to the office.

When I did OT I noticed that not once did a manager ensure that my collection stuff was collected from me and taken back to the office to hit their cut off time. So I stopped making any effort to hit their time and instead I ensure that I am back with the collections before the lorry leaves at 4 ish.

I would have expected RM to want the collections back at the DO to make the early lorry (if there's more than 1 lorry taking collections back to the MC). The more mail that can make the early run, the more that can make an earlier dispatch on the late shift in the MC. Then downstream the more mail arrives at the inward MC earlier, gets processed early and then makes the wave 1 dispatch to the DOs
