That’s how I thought DTS worked.
So it is not "routinely delaying mail?"
It is though. It’s just being framed as being a service to businesses.

Amazon Logistics, as distinct from Amazon the e-retailer, does something very similar to Royal Mail: it delivers millions of parcels each year. And it doesn’t just deliver for Amazon the e-retailer (which is obviously its biggest customer, not to mention parent company); it delivers for many other customers too.
You’re being pedantic there. Amazon Logistics is the delivery arm of goods purchased on Amazon, Amazon being made up of millions of retailers, but they all operate under the Amazon banner and have their goods delivered by Amazon Logistics unless the customer chooses a different delivery option.
No, you are conflating two distinct companies and two distinct offerings. When I referred to “many other customers”, I wasn’t referring to marketplace sellers!

Why don’t you familiarise yourself with AMZL before trying to disprove what I say? Here is some further info for you: https://shipping.amazon.co.uk/info/sme-parcel-delivery

You can all argue the toss about delivering/not delivering mail, there is one overriding factor here, the USO which goes hand in hand with this company, bought and paid for when it was privatised and a obligation that at the moment shouldn't be ignored.
They can choose to ignore it and take the hit financially or try to figure a way of delivering it which is viable.
I fancy there probably is some way of doing it making it viable, but i think they need to get some sort of agreement on the USO going forward to allow them to work something out.
Surely the fines they have been getting hit with might have paid the wages of enough workers to deliver the mail they were fined for not delivering in the first place.
As for taking on amazon, don't be silly how can we? Two delivery companies, but delivering different things and a lot of amazons stuff too!

Isn't there an obvious other side to that argument?
When you take the job you know that the USO is an obligation. Why should you be allowed to cut off and fail it?
I can see commit to deliver raising its head again.

Sometimes the USO fails due to the individual.

Ofcom are onboard with RM to dilute it, there is nobody to hold them to account

Interesting concept Clash, so now its our fault for cutting off, the responsibility should fall on the worker and not the company.
I really don't see the argument, we didn't buy the company and the responsibilities and they did, we didn't make the duties so big that you have to work over to complete and o/t is still not a mandatory requirement of working for this company.
Are you sure which side you are batting for? You seem to be agreeing with a lot of company policy for some reason.

Commit to deliver would only work as a one off, not because the walks have been made too big, or else you could be working 50 hours a week.

In some cases yes it is.
This board is littered with people bragging about how they do the bare minimum, that they have never taken lapsing because they just walk slower, quiet quitting, going home early etc etc.
If the USO is a legal obligation how is the management supposed to deal with that?

I can understand why they would want to bring it in.
I can see how the behaviour of a minority will be used to the detriment of the majority.
Does the attendance procedure changes not ring any alarm bells?

He certainly will. His parcel locker expansion can only mean job losses.

Yes this board is littered with lots of things and anyone who goes on-line knows that its 80% bullshit all of the time, so that isn't going to work.
It is the job of management to manage the workforce, not their fellow employees.
They can't bring in commit to deliver without a agreement with the union as the cutoff procedure would need to be scrapped/amended and as i said many times legally i don't have to work o/t, it isn't compulsory and no amount of scaremongering will change that.

The only alarms bells that are ringing louder for me is the fact that management should be dealing with USO failures by getting off their well paid bonus driven ar$es and sorting out the walks which they have single handedly wrecked in our office by getting rid of duties and putting some duties back in. Failing this, they could at least go out and deliver some loops themselves instead of p*ssing about taking long lunch breaks and spending all day hooked up on computers. They have what I call a "non-job" once we leave the office and nothing that I have seen in my time working indoors has changed this perception. :silenced

Admittedly, it's not always the easiest job in the world for a manager who is tasked with trying to coerce posties into completing over-sized duties whilst often trying to pay zero overtime for it, but they are as much responsible for failing the USO as we are. We have managers that are telling us to prioritised the Tracked at all costs, we have mail that is deliberately being stood down and not put in the frame so its not classed as a 'USO failure', we have posties who are told that if they don't work their day off on their extended deliveries that they will be walking in to two days worth of mail on their frames and we have also had mail that has been deliberately held back in mail centres. Who the f*ck is responsible for all that? Well, let's just blame the lazy postie shall we! I've only ever advocated quiet quitting during industrial action which unfortunately our Union decided not to take up on. For now, I will simply take the advice of our rep who suggests that we have a start time and a finish time and I do the most I can within those hours and if any manager questions my performance and wants to come out on a van share with me for the full week and assess it themselves then they are more than welcome.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Don't think they have any choice with the duties, these days they probably get told by higher up to remove x hours from the office or you'll be replaced by someone who will remove x hours from the office

Aye, apart from full walks that are failing on a daily basis we often have overtime bans from time to time and this really wouldn't happen if the business were more concerned about achieving the USO at all costs.
