Need help/advice.... Leaving due to ill health.

Need some advice and just general information regarding leaving the business due to ill health.
Been suffering horrendous back pain and have been off for nearly 6 months. Physio ain't working and I'm finding it hard to walk for any great lengths of time. My manager suggested I could go for IHR since there don't seem to be an improvement and I've been off some time.
What happens if you go for it but the independent doctor says you don't qualify or he deems you might be ok in the future. At that point I would be near half pay and on no pay not too much time after. Would I essentially be forced to leave as the medical opinion says I'm fine to work but I feel I can't? I'm worried I might have to leave with nothing and it would put me in financial strain until I got something else.

You can get a 2nd opinion with your own Doctor & submit that as evidence.
What OH are looking for is information that your back is not going to improve.

What's the alternative for you as it doesn't sound like you'll be able to continue working for RM even if OH claim you can, assuming you are being genuine?

I would talk to a rep, how you talk to IHR may be important.

if you leave, I think its 16 weeks’ pay plus (Pilon which is taxed)

you get an es85 to assist with claiming benefits, I would talk to citizen advise about this, it may be affected by a few issues, some of which could be, if you can still work just not at your current job, how much savings you have.

if you stop work then call HMRC, do this early in the day its more likely to get through, otherwise they continue to tax as if you’re working.

Great advice - I recommend speaking to the Disabilities Champion or Equality officer at your branch. They are trained to handle these types of issues.

On a personal level I would say no one knows what’s wrong with someone’s back till it’s been x reyed or scanned. Don’t be pressured

Talk to my manager today he can't tell me how much I will get. Can HR? Has anyone went through it know if I would get the full money..

Jan 2023 - April 2023- absent full pay
Jan 2024- July 2024 - 2nd absense full pay
July 2024 - August - half pay
August onwards..... No pay

I really don't understand why that is... Can anyone please explain it too me..

If you have 12 months off in a 4 year period you will be on zero pay .
Ihr is usually 16 weeks pay plus 12 weeks pilon

Thanks for the reply! I was just reading the agreement and yeah your right on that..

In what scenario does money start coming off that 16 weeks + 12... Im sure someone said they got a lesser amount but I can't remeber the reason?
