Re: 2 day election leaflet
I can see two duties failing this next week. If election officials are allowed to drop by the office, then I hope someone from Labour also pops in for a look next Friday. Remember, if you see it speak up!
The machine stops.

Re: 2 day election leaflet
Yeah we've both mentioned that before, imagine if they could work with the "customer" and maybe offer a service to collate them all into an envelope rather than drip feeding endless crap into the system, if that had happened they could have had one set of every party's leaflets done over the course of last week, no more of an issue than a d2d, they probably could have even wriggled out of paying us extra for delivering them.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑27 Jun 2024, 19:40It's about time that RM force all the parties to have all election postings as machinable addressed mail so that we can sequence them with the rest of the sequencing on the CSS

Re: 2 day election leaflet
A quick update on this 2 day Labour premium service.
Nothing arrived by Saturday lunchtime, so I asked our DOM boss what's happening.
I complained to him that RM should not take on a contract that can't be fulfilled and that we have already been busting our balls to get through the election material.
He agreed and said that the office is on its knees and that he had also complained upwards as well.
Also multiple walks didn't go out today and are crammed full.
He is not expecting our office to be able to complete this task by Tuesday and they may be rejected as arriving far too late.
With a bit of luck, they will either not turn up or just sit under our frames untouched ?

Re: 2 day election leaflet
We have that D2D in our office. Our lino had 'permission' to put them out on Friday and that we were allowed to deliver some/all on Friday, as we have a local holiday here, so no deliveries today(Sat). Our shared duty, done about 1/3 of one duty on Friday, with the rest to be done Mon/Tues, which will not happen and will fail.
The other duty has a few days worth of mail in the frame, alone with D2D's and lots of election crap, plus we will have the sequenced/manual/pkts from Saturday on sort/prep/attempt to deliver on Monday, what fun we will have telling the lino, we have NO chance of the frames being cleared on Mon/Tues/Rest of the week.

Our COM said it's already best efforts and he's been told just to go round the frames on Wednesday and send everything left in or under the frames straight in the sensitive waste bags as the bigger sin is delivering on the Thursday rather than not delivering it at all

Re: 2 day election leaflet
I recall years ago (2018?) this special half-week D2D product being talked about at a WTLL session but I don't recall it ever being utilised, at least not nationally. If this wasn't Whistl DSA I'd throw out a theory that RM took on this impossible contract as a quid pro quo for an incoming Labour government waving-through certain business concerns.BenacreNick wrote: ↑29 Jun 2024, 15:31I complained to him that RM should not take on a contract that can't be fulfilled and that we have already been busting our balls to get through the election material.

Re: 2 day election leaflet
Perhaps it isn't used because it is too expensive.
Didn't The Sun do a day specific D2D for the Euros one year?

I’m surprised we haven’t had this round here as it is a marginal seat. Either way, you will still be getting paid for these as per normal election material.
Yes it was a newspaper.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑30 Jun 2024, 09:05Perhaps it isn't used because it is too expensive.

The Sun one day D2D was horrendous, workload was one thing but we had torrential rain and they turned to mulch and everything and everyone got covered in ink

Re: 2 day election leaflet
There's bound to be election stuff being held by the DTS system. I'm wondering if RM will turn the DTS off nationally for either Monday night (for Tuesday delivery), Tuesday night (for Wednesday delivery) or Wednesday night (for Thursday delivery).jessicarabbit wrote: ↑29 Jun 2024, 21:03Our COM said it's already best efforts and he's been told just to go round the frames on Wednesday and send everything left in or under the frames straight in the sensitive waste bags as the bigger sin is delivering on the Thursday rather than not delivering it at all
Don't know if it's the same around the country, going by my emails we've got the Electoral Register annual letters due through anytime now as well

Whatever happens you just know the first part of this week will be hell with election material, then the second half will be hell catching back up with our normal work.

Yeah I remember that newspaper, thankfully it didn't rain round here, but I do remember my hands being covered in ink, I wonder if even RM are stupid enough to sell a one day d2d to anyone these days should the opportunity arise
