Absolute shambles

The union has been telling us for years not to cut the job up. Still they come in early , skip meal relief and run around delivery. I've given up caring. I do it properly. Start on time , finish on time. Take my full meal relief and tell them a good few hours before if I'm going to fail. Imagine if we all worked properly. This would get sorted within a month.

I don't see how it helps anyone. The posties hate it, the customers get their mail later, the buzzers are going off before I can finish the delivery, more dogs are out, less people are in, town is busier with people at the later times, and for what? To get rid of the planes to save some cash? Well, the competitors are still using planes so now we look like amateurs.

Yep, saw this last week. Why bother asking once it's fait accompli? They won't roll it back but they probably will produce an RMTV video to educate us about how wrong we are. Like a cult's orientation video - you love the new times, you just don't realise it yet.

These later starting times are an absolute shambles ,morons still coming in early for nothing, RM fully new this would be the case, getting to my first delivery point on average about 1 hr 30 minutes later now , summer hours mean reduced working times yet mail lorry's arriving at offices at least an hour later ,what a joke 28 years in the job never been so pi##ed off .

I’m waking less miles than i ever used to with the way this place is run. The business is bloated with bad managment on the top level and its not yours mine or any worker on the shop floors problem.

Well I am glad you’re doing okay , because some of us aren’t, double mail every day, parcel volumes through the roof ,D2D’s lagging behind because of the volume of mail and then the election stuff just as an extra kick in the goolies. Yeah, having a great time, where Royal Mail get their figures from I do not know and yes I start on time and finish on time and I don’t want or need overtime thanks.

It can be easy for you, you have a start and finish time, you have a paid break (unless you are on a new contract)

You seem to think that you are responsible for what happens, you’re not. If you work your hours at a reasonable speed then everything else is royal mails problem.

This is how it works now -

Clock in on time
Go to your frame for that day
When called up to sort or prep another duty then do it
Return to your frame and start prepping
Once prepped, scan all your tracked parcels
Discuss with your manager what the priorities are for that day
Bundle whatever you think you can deliver from them priorities
Load your van, collect your specials
Take your break
Do your van check
Leave the office
Drive your van to all speed limits and safe driving limits
Complete all collections
Do not leave your van running
Always lock your vehicle
Do not leave any mail or parcels in your cab
Deliver all items to the specified requirements I.e 1pm, deliver to neighbour, think 25, signed for.
Return to office 10 minutes before your finish time
Do your vehicle sign off
Put all collected items in the correct place
Scan out on time

Only you make it harder for yourself, follow the above instructions and you will have the best day you’ve ever had

One the biggest issues with this job is the concern that somebody in the same aisle as you has it slightly easier. If you focus on your own workload and assess it in exactly the way mentioned above it is completely irrelevant what time anyone else in the office is going out/coming back. Work at a reasonable pace take your breaks use the equipment and return on time. We all get paid exactly the same no matter how much of delivery you manage. It Is really that simple and it's also none of your business what Jeff on the next delivery down is up to....

The problem for some is the daily ‘discussion’ with arsehole managers, who will try and push you to the limits so you end up rushing to finish on time. They will sometimes have a different view to what you can manage and will try to confuse matters. Only you, especially the ones who have been signed to duties for some time, know what you can manage. It’s just that some can’t or won’t stand up to the arseholes. I left lots in yesterday, walked 3 loops and drove for the remainder of my shift delivering tracked. f**k em.

We have slow coaches in our DO but they seem the miserable ones always moaning about their excessive work loads.
