Throwing off d2ds or election material
When you got 3 or 4
Do you pick them up 1,2,3,4 (not nesting) but pick them up together and throw them off?
Or hold one bundle close to the frame and throw them off one at a time?
My theory is my hands being far closer it’s quicker but manager says it’s wrong as it takes longer..

Get your phone out, load the stopwatch, then time yourself. Put a row/column/loop in individually and another set in nested. Time each method and note the times down. Do it 3-5 times and take an average. That's the only way to know which way is quickest for you.

I do option one, usually put them in size order as well find it makes it a bit easier when delivering them.

Re: Throwing off d2ds or election material
The theory is it is quicker to collate them because then you are only making 1 prepping motion.
That is why the timings used to be :
1 contract = 4 minutes
2 contracts = 8 minutes.
3 contracts = 10 minutes.
(This was back in the day when you were doing 1/6th of a 500 delivery point frame.)

I don't.
It isn't "doing the job properly".
If you do it with election material and you have an activist living on your round you could be looking at your P45.

No no. Ask management to demonstrate their superior knowledge by doing it for you and time them.Basildon Bond wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 15:11Get your phone out, load the stopwatch, then time yourself.

The joys of a Domino's leaflet with the half flap - flap down or up? Flap side to the left of the slot or to the right?
Double slotted - take both or just one, number or not number?
Put in on a Saturday if you've got time on only to find they've all flopped to one side by Monday AM.........

Speed=distance/time.
If you shorten the distance to a few cm it’s got to be faster. But they know best..

Me, it takes longer titting about doing it plus it's not allowed.Bounced_Czech wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 15:44Who in their right mind doesn't nest D2D?postmanzach wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 14:21When you got 3 or 4

Nest them. That’s it. You’re not paid enough to do them separately.postmanzach wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 14:21When you got 3 or 4

Re: Throwing off d2ds or election material
companies know we nest this s**t, why do you think the regulars (pizzas) come in a stupid shape that makes them an excellent "sleeve" for all the other junk?

How much extra do you think you need to be paid to do your job to the correct specification?
One sacking in your office and I bet you would change your tune.

Re: Throwing off d2ds or election material
It has been a long time since we could both "properly" do the job and also meet the USO (Deliver it all) within time, so pick one. Myself, I pick the recipients. They get their actual mail above all else, f**k the junk they're binning anyway.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 19:58How much extra do you think you need to be paid to do your job to the correct specification?

I mean seriously, I'm delivering GARAGE DOOR ADVERTS to people living in old peoples homes, or roofing ads to people living in council owned flats! The ads are f***ing pointless.
As for sackings, if the frame is clear, how it happened is not going to come up. I promise you.

Re: Throwing off d2ds or election material
Our entire office nests them. There was a brief moment pre-Covid, when an anal manager put a sticker on everyone’s frame saying, ‘NO NESTING’. That lasted a whole five minutes and was quickly removed because they want the D2Ds done and they weren’t being done without nesting.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 19:58How much extra do you think you need to be paid to do your job to the correct specification?

Re: Throwing off d2ds or election material
According to Royal Mail D2D’s are loved by everybody and kept for a fortnight , so in that time I’m sure they’d discover the hidden treasures inside the latest Dominos Leaflet. Who am I to disagree even when I see them in the recycling bin the next day or the customer puts them in there straight away , or I get roundly abused by people telling me they don’t want this s**t delivered, not my problem I reply sweetly. I doubt anyone has ever been sacked for nesting D2D’s , even the courts agree that it’s a pile of junk.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑28 Jun 2024, 19:58How much extra do you think you need to be paid to do your job to the correct specification?
