We were told this morning that we will be having a revision based on delivery 2.0 and that it will be rolled out all over the country.
Good luck.

They said that it will be staffed on seniority, i.e you'll be signing for a duty, but also they'll be able to flex between quiet days and busy days
‘Flex’ sounds horrific. Why don’t they just implant the chips now and get it over with 🙄

The current climate status is: if you say a change isn’t working and explain why, you are marked as being a change hating Luddite and your input dismissed.
Come to work for a self-professed 500 year old company only to find every 500 days someone comes up with an entirely new way of doing things to justify their own employment.

Last I heard about bench-merging through the grapevine it was reportedly a disaster, so it seems frames are here to stay - or I should say frame, singular.
The machine stops.

Can’t wait to see how this works in offices with nearly 100 duties.

I can see how this makes sense. ON PAPER. You take what you can given traffic levels on any given day. What could be simpler?

In practice it will be complete and utter chaos, decreasing service levels day in day out. Failure galore.

Aye, instead of several part/delivery failures on any given day, there will be just ONE.

Most posties who are on fixed walks like to complete their own duties - some of them even working their day off to ensure this happens. It's in their DNA that whilst other walks fail for whatever reason at least their walk is CLEAR.

How will they feel if they are asked to leave what is considered part of their walk to do another area that has failed from the day before? I've seen firsthand how reserves/floaters/spares behave when they walk in expecting to deliver 2+ days worth of mail. Some of these guys on fixed singleton walks may get demoralised physchollogically and it might not always be fair but RM want a watered down USO. I'm not sure how it would work in larger offices though.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I'm the OP, our next revision will be based on it.

So people think this is going to be done so that Royal Mail can bypass the USO? Surely Ofcom would know about this and would put a stop to it, and make sure each section of ~500 properties is classed as an individual walk.

One other reason Delivery 2.0 might be implemented is that it should reduce the need for space = moving to smaller offices/warehouses = sell off of Royal Mail land and buying/renting smaller units.

Apparently there is a manager brief for this within the next few months, so definitely looks like they are going to roll it out to compatible offices nationwide.

Delivery 2 also helps the overseers to see who's working and who's on their phones looking at royal mail chat. They can then whip the staff from their centralised position. For some of the staff this will be painful, for others they may end up slowing down on purpose for extra punishment. :shhhhh

Hopefully our office will be incompatible 😁
