Re: Bullying and Harassment
I remember it got worse during the February shorter working week. It was their idea to bring this in! Should have just left it and paid the overtime when it ramps up at Christmas.

Yes, same here for the same reason. All the manager was saying was it was a light day and why I was cutting off, not even looking at half the walk in the frame I brought back the day before!guardianangel wrote: ↑18 Jun 2024, 18:07Bullying and harassment gone into overdrive this week, gone onto the shorter working week and the mail and election material has exploded. All I can say is try to stay strong and not get angry about it. We are not paid enough to worry about it.

Re: Bullying and Harassment
Only the CWU would agree a variation that sees it members being promised an earlier finish but ending up working longer.

Royal Mail management can't manage anything with common sense....
Let's go to shorter working weeks whilst mail is flooding in....that makes sense!

Royal Mail have ballsed it up again. They really should have introduced the shorter working week AFTER all the election cr*p has been delivered.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Bullying and Harassment
I think there is only one way this toxic culture can be nullified...
Job and finish.
How it would work:
You could have small, medium, and large duties.
Everyone starts at the same time.
Depending on whether you pick into a small, medium, or large duty, and how fast/slow you are.... will determine when you finish.
You have to complete your duty unless something significant has happened ie. mail late into the office, van breakdown, injury on duty....
Small duties would be able to be finished by 2.30pm at the heaviest times of the year.
Medium duties would be able to be finished by 3pm at the heaviest times of the year.
Large duties will be able to be finished by 3.30pm at the heaviest times of the year.
You get paid different amounts depending on what size duty you have chosen to do.
Benefits:
-Posties can work as fast or as slow as they want.
-Virtually no need to speak with a manager about workload and what can be completed / what hasn't been completed. Toxic culture eradicated.
-Less managers needed.

Re: Bullying and Harassment
Had to cut off three loops to finish on time. This was double mail, left in from yesterday - because instead of delivering it I was taken off, and sent to a neighbouring office which was struggling with a walk which had double mail.
I was half expecting the postie which I helped out yesterday to be sent from their office to mine, to help me out today!

Re: Bullying and Harassment
Our start and finish times have had a significant change and the only duties that are completing are the ones able to start their delivery around the same time they used to. Those who used to stay out have stopped doing so, as they simply can't due to commitments.

Re: Bullying and Harassment
Exactly why it will be put in Room 101. Our office got rid of the DOM role but after a year they brought it back in again. Royal Mail is a really strange organisation that desperately needs rid of these non-productive roles but somehow they always find a way to create more jobs in management.

Re: Bullying and Harassment
To be fair to RM, they didn’t know when in the year 2024 the election would be called.postslippete wrote: ↑18 Jun 2024, 21:16Royal Mail have ballsed it up again. They really should have introduced the shorter working week AFTER all the election cr*p has been delivered.
And although it would make sense to defer the shorter working week until after the election propaganda, the union stops any degree of flexibility like this – the dates for seasonal variation are probably written in tablets of stone, years in advance, which can’t be amended.

Fair point, but both Royal Mail and the CWU had an agreement that allowed us to work an additional 5 week "low season" in January and February 2024. The decision to introduce this reduction was an attempt to better align work hours to traffic during the period and to give some hours back to employees prior to the end of the financial year. Personally, I would have preferred it if they just kept the hours the same back then and gave us more annual leave off in the summer like they originally promised. But if they could adjust our hours back then, why couldn't they have done it now and just kept us working normal hours?
