We never saw the poll cards on the CSS machines so I'm guessing they went out to DOs as direct boxes/trays. There was a bulk posting for one area around the right time, so it's possible that the local council there sent them out in envelopes.

God knows what happened to our poll cards but what a mess. No way did they come off the print in the order that we received them. We’re sure that the MC are told to give them a good old shuffle up just to inconvenience delivery staff & slow the process up of prepping them.

Received all ours today, we were told to only deliver them to households we were already delivering to which was nearly all of them today!!

The amount of work this creates for posties is massive and we really get a pittance for all the extra work.

4 pence per item, 3 days to deliver them... That time has run out already. All under the frame. Deliver them with your D2D's no nesting. That's just the poll cards.

Our polling cards came in a complete jumble too. Some of it was in with the sequenced, some not. Walked in to some in the frame, some not. By the time I counted the bastard things, with our stupid later starts the whole AM was gone before I dropped the first letter. I was not in the mood to be out there till tea time.

as usual folk putting them in early/late after finishing time for free.

As they receive a separate payment, they can do them whenever. I don't believe there is any stipulation that they must be handled within duty time - it's expected you'll overrun. Ideally you want to get them done within your hours to maximise pay and minimise time.

Back in the days when you didn't want to miss the van out, I was on a heavy walk and just sat on all the material for that week and delivered it in one big bag on my day off. The £100 or so easily made up for the loss of my rest day. All above board with management.

Mine were completely non sequenced but were at least sorted by road so it wasn’t a massive deal prepping them. Definitely worth the hassle for the extra £100. We’ve only had one election leaflet so far outside of this.

When running stuff like poll cards, you'll get a few times where the feeder draws in more than one at a time, it'll normally reject them few or see it as a jam when they spread out a bit. If they've not been through a CSS then they must have gone straight to the DO as a direct york

Probably sent as a direct york, straight off the lorry from the RDC and onto the lorry to the DO

Some people think we've had them through already, but I don't think we've had any through. I've not seen any envelopes with purple edging which I'm sure the outgoing postal vote letters have

Sums up this s**t business and the s**t union when one office gets 3p and another gets 6p for doing exactly the same thing. Absolute f***ing shambles.
