TRUSTEES ENDORSE PENSION REFORMS
Dear Colleague,
RE: Pensions
We have been advised that the Trustee Board have today endorsed Royal Mail’s pension reforms.
Prior to this decision being taken the Union did meet the Chair of the Trustees and also set out formally our views in writing to the Board.
We understand the Trustee’s decision has been taken on the basis that the Trustees have specific legal obligations and priorities covering their role.
The Union’s policy on pensions remains unchanged. Once the result of our consultative ballot is announced next week we will step up our campaign to secure a satisfactory outcome by whatever means necessary.
The Postal Executive will also consider our next steps when it meets next week.
Further information will be sent out in due course.
Yours sincerely
Dave Ward
Deputy General Secretary (P)

Predictable, but thanks for the info all the same.
I think on this one we are all damned if we do and damned if we don't as I can't remember an issue will such far reaching consequences for all of us. The fact that the Govt is pretty much behind Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb makes the situation all the more difficult.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

re: Great track record
Previous strikes have brought:
Single Daily Delivery post 2003 strike
2007 strike has brought loss of more contracts and pension reform.
Writing is one the wall on this one.
time to pack up the bucket and spade and head to retirement apartment in Spain

If we lived in France this would not be happening. They would have walked out ages ago and not only the postal sector but everyone in every sector. They know how to fight together and be stronger united. We are too apathetic in this country & because we are oh so civilised it seems to indicate we can be shat upon time and again. I, personally dont hold out much hope in a future strike but the not much hope is a damn sight better than getting shafted again and again. I will strike and hope to god that not only can the rest of us posties strike also but that the top guns of the CWU dont accept defeat tied up in a lovely ribbon and call it victory. If we lose the next strike then we may as well f*ck off abroad because this country is going backwards in time to the victorian ages in the work ethos.
The CWU has to get unite out as well if we are to win. Try and work together and refuse to accept seperate talks or deals.
It is time to stand up towards the evil of GB, AL & AC.

Everyone should stand up and fight this, this is a disgrace. The money we will be losing on our pension will only be going into Leighton/Croziers back pocket along with the governments.
Personally i think we should be going for an all out strike, most of us agree with having to work longer but to lose a big stack of our pension to substatise :cfo and :lfo is joke.
Stand up and fight, if strikes are necessary so be it. All out strike that what i'd go for.

Hi mateGlenno wrote:LOVEJOY ME OLD MUCKER ME OLD MATE "BY WHAT EVER MEANS NECASARRY" DO YOU THINK THERE WILL BE ANOTHER BALLOT?????????? OR IS THIS SEEN AS / OR PROBABLY SEEN AS THE VOICE OF RANK AND FILE FOR FUTURE ACTION?????????????
Its conference policy to defend our pensions by whatever means neccasary which means if it comes to it strike action. PEC next wk will decide next steps. I don't think the trustees backing changes anything as they were always going to vote that way (given RM have majority on board if you add the independent (or not so independent) members).
The union nationally now need to up their game big time on communications. I'm sure that with the right campaign we can get people up for the fight ahead.
