it is deliberately framed in an intimidating manner.
You honestly find the thing intimidating?
Either you are taking the piss or you have led a very sheltered life.

It's an email. It might be a lot of things but intimidating isn't one of them.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

This thread demonstrates the issue RM has in trying to drag the company into the future. They want to be nimble and use technology for mundane tasks and here we have people crying about being sent an automated email, which they were free to ignore until their shift started.
Not sure anybody is crying about anything, all posters are querying is why RM, without any warning or seeking our prior agreement, have suddenly started using our personal email addresses asking us to do training on our own mobiles. It wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to get our prior agreement.
You don’t have to do it on your mobile or your pc. You can do it on theirs. You don’t have to do it in your free time, you can do it in work time.

This is part of a campaign so it’s the first of several.
Then there was no need to send emails to employees out of work hours!

I’m sure this is a wind up.

A bit of a fuss over nothing. Had 2 of these emails and immediately deleted both without a 2nd thought. AFAIK this “training” isn’t compulsory and if it was they can speak to me about it when I am at work and provide me with a device to do it on and the time to do it. Don’t stress the small stuff.

You might be right. And I am fully able to accept it is a me issue. Personally I find any contact from my employer outside of work hours to be a massive imposition.

If it isn’t intended to be intimidating though why the choice of language? Why the delivery of said email on a Sunday morning? Why the mention of the email being sent to my line manager as some kind of nudge to get my homework done?

As mentioned above, it isn’t due to be completed until the end of June anyway. Why even send an email out? It can be literally brought up in WTL or even have a notice put up to do it. Have a manager actually manage?

I’ve managed to do over 20 years in this job being trained in work hours, being informed of said training in work hours. I guess I just need to move with the times so RM can become ‘more nimble’ when it comes to embracing technology. Nah I’ll just block the sender and let my manager tell me when I need to take such courses as I have done in the past. I might even really rebel and not even take it as suggested.

...I don't know anyone else who's employer sends emails on a Sunday morning and expects a response.
But hey ho I'm a Luddite.
I'll enlighten you... every mid- to high-level corporate job in the western world expects it. They officially deny it, but if you want to rise up higher - you better be responsive to emails. And if you're ok staying at your current level you will actually sink in real terms.

In my old life (I'm not an RM lifer like I have said before in posts) I had to be on 3am calls to the Japan office because of an issue and it was only noon there - you had to understand and deal with Japanese culture which is very different from UK culture. And I had to stay late because the Boston office needed my input during a meeting on specs. And I had to scramble to call meetings between the UK, US on a Sunday afternoon because a customer-facing system when down and needs a resolution ASAP - so I'm "working" 2pm and trying to get hold of some guys in Texas (Eastern Standard Time) and they are being called in either 10am their time (if it's GMT in the UK) or 9am (if it's BST - summertime) in the UK. And no I did not get paid. I did not whine "it's not my job" or "not in my contract" or "out of hours". I did not fold my arms and shrug and roll my eyes. If I was told I had a to present a slide deck covering recent system changes to D-level executives tomorrow I worked all night to have a polished presentation that ended with clear and smart decision criteria. I blo*dy well got stuck in and grafted. Because that was and is the job. Suck it up and extend yourself if you want to make the cut on the next round of redundancies and corporate takeovers.

If you have been a RM all or most of your working life. And if you haven't worked for a company with American work/life balance attitudes you have to accept you are completely shelter from a world and way of working you know absolutely nothing about and it would like knock you over as to what is expected.

Bit of a rant - nothing personal luddite  but there is a world of work out there that would have some members on here crying that it's not acceptable but expected.
Good for you mate, I couldn't give a f**k.

I got one of these emails to my personal email address on Sunday as well

Walked into work today and we had a Work Time Learning where we were shown a video on the subject matter (showing a short drama portraying a couple of bullying and racist managers and some mysogonistic and anti-woke posties). No questionnaire, handouts or discussion about it but we had to sign a sheet to confirm we had seen the video. So, not sure if this online trading has to be done as well. It was news to our manager when it was pointed out several of us had received these emails.

There's an easy way to stop future emails from Success Factors: log into Success Factors and change your email address there to a non-existent one.
(You will need to take a note of the non-existent email address if you want to be able to log in again.)

So anyone who doesn't use personal email would never know of the requirement?

Wouldn't there be the danger that if you had to reset your password, you wouldn't be able to do so, as the email to verify any changes would go to the non-existent address? And you might have to reply to a verification email - sent to the non-existent address, to confirm the change of emailo address before it takes effect!

I'm with Lou on this one.

These e-mails often get sent to my spam folder. For some reason the company has been pushing for us to all to be actively "engaged" in our jobs in recent years.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

If you want to be able to log in again in the future, you will need to take a note of the non-existent email address. As far as avoiding the need to reset passwords goes, I would recommend using a password-manager like KeePass: then, forgetting passwords isn't a problem.
I did change my email address on Success Factors without having to verify it.

Good god! why have you decided to lower yourself down to a postie, with that big wide world of work knowledge you have surely you could be multi tasking for free for some other company.
Sorry bit of a rant there, nothing personal.
You do realise that the US way of working or the corporate way of working bears little to no resemblance to what we do, therefore it has no bearing on us.

I deleted the app shortly after downloading it.
I've had none of these emails, and I wouldn't respond to the anyway
