It isn’t mandatory to have my private email account spammed when outside work. If I had a RM email account, then fair enough. Even then I would be pissed off if I was contacted outside working hours.

So don't give work your private email address.

I kind of need to see my payslip every week so have no choice.

You need an account you can access to verify the app, so yes. As to T&Cs - there should be an option to opt out of correspondence. There isn’t. If I am expected to be contactable by email outside office hours, I want a works mobile or laptop, which can be turned off when I finish working.

Either way I will see what HR say as I’ve lodged a complaint. If nothing comes of it I will just have to report it as spam and block the sender I guess.

Managers still do not disturb break time at our place.

Do the thing in work time. You can use their devices but that’s something I would avoid. It really is no big deal. Next time you are sent a work email which is likely automated, don’t open it until you are at work.

I got a call from a manager today - my day off - along the lines of, “Sorry to disturb you on your day off, but is there a special trick to starting (van number)?” This is the van I use every day. Sounded like the starter motor has gone kaput overnight! Poor bloke had loaded it with over a hundred parcels before realising it wouldn’t start. I didn’t mind this minor intrusion on my day off, though I totally get others view their time off as sacred and not to be interrupted by contact from work.

I don’t understand what the issue is? There is a Sexual Harassment lesson that you have to do on either your mobile or laptop. That’s it.

They have. You can do it on one of their mobiles or on one of the PCs in your office. You don’t HAVE to do it on your devices or in your own time.

If they can’t make the automated email sent to customers, clearly stated that tracked parcel delivery times are a hope not a guarantee, then they’re not going to be able to write a simple automated email explaining a test thing that they want us all to do.

Sounds like the new WTL - probably want to sell all the LCD TVs in the break rooms.

Tell them you don't use a computer - or it broke recently or has a virus, or you don't have a phone, or you pay for data on your phone so watching a video will be expensive (because videos take a lot of data). You'll just end up back in the break room watching a video while others are prepping.

However, if none of those are true, why not watch the video - in work time if your prefer - and then get on with your day. Heck, play the (muted) video on your phone while connected to the wifi at home while you are in another room taking a nap. Job done.

This thread is showing several members who work for RM and seemingly look like they have no intent of leaving but are equally militant about giving the company, that they are so loyal to??, six minutes of their time to watch a video. Strange attitude - interesting too, but strange.

This thread demonstrates the issue RM has in trying to drag the company into the future. They want to be nimble and use technology for mundane tasks and here we have people crying about being sent an automated email, which they were free to ignore until their shift started.

Outside of work I'm outside of work, full stop! I don't want to watch videos or engage in anyway. If I phone a manager outside of work hours they ignore me. The last time a manager phoned me whilst on annual leave I ignored him but when I returned to work tried to have a go at me and asked what I was doing that was so important! Having dinner with a sister not seen for 5 years.
I don't know anyone else who's employer sends emails on a Sunday morning and expects a response.

Surely if it work related, its should have been communicated via the PDA? Then use RM's WTL time to complete/watch the video. Like everyone, I saw it, and binned it straight away. When I'm not at work, that's my time and not to be used to complete work related issues which can be done at the office.
