General election material

I was wondering if there is a national agreement that covers general election material.
I have a number of members who don't want to deliver them. The payment they receive will affect UC payments.

Really? In previous years the election propaganda (aka leaflets similar to D2Ds) we’ve received a small amount for, something like 3p for each one. Nothing to write home about but when you’re delivering 4/5 different leaflets and getting 15p for each address, it soon added up.

Incorrect at least in part.

Depending on how they get into the system there are payments for election material from the candidates.

There is also a conscience clause that anyone with a strong enough case can use to refuse to deliver any party's material. However, it may mean you being moved from your duty if that is the only solution. See my link above and various agreements in the downloads section.

If the issue is payment they can speak to the employer and see if the payment can be staggered to avoid affecting UC payments.

Or maybe the could just not get paid extra for doing them? Don't you have to fill out a form where you overestimate how many you deliver then you get paid? As a reserve I got f**k all last time for them. I would rather not deliver them, not because of the pay, I'm not bothered. But because the politicians are all leaching, corrupt bastards. (My opinion obviously)

No you don’t — You get paid separately for all election leaflets from all the parties

On our extended duties it doesn't make sense to do any normal overtime doing general election material. They don't all have to be delivered in one day so it's best to deliver as much election sh*t as you can without going over and leave the rest for another day. That way you still get the election payment and you are not working over your time for it.

Those leeching politicians claim any election costs back, so claim what you are entitled to.
