We have one colleague who has been granted an exemption, even being given a duty to enable this.
(Though to be fair not very controversial as its becoming vacant and he would get it anyway on seniority).
However nobody, including himself, the manager or indeed anybody else can see how on earth he will be able to complete
given the new times and logistics involved(unless its dead), when the clock hits a certain time he will return to the office.

We also have someone else who has renewed his football season ticket on the very loose proviso that the manager said
he could go if he had finished (it would be an hour early which sounds like a recipe for disaster).
Again it has been pointed out to him that logistically it would have to be at the very least a below average volume day to
give him a chance of getting there. We shall see.

I can't see the longevity in that arrangement, what happens about the mail that will inevitably get returned undelivered, has the manager got a plan, if so then that would surely involve paying someone overtime, is there a few folk who've said they don't mind "mopping up" if required at short notice.

Will the mail arrive early enough for the person to begin ips, if not then what's he going to do ?

Thats the point, nobody seems to know, he starts 8 miles from the office.
Apparently the adjoining round is done by someone happy to do plenty of overtime, but what about his holidays and days off?
We have been told there will be mail ready to prep as some is going to come earlier than planned as otherwise the feeder offices
would be receiving it too late.
I always thought there would be a small number of exceptions as it enables RM to claim they are looking at individual cases and
trying to be reasonable, if a case ended up at tribunal it would hardly look good if there had been say 8000 requests and 0 granted.

How is the job any better for you as a ‘new guard’? No seniority advantages, a shitty contract, less pay. I wouldn’t be too smug as the job will be getting worse for all of us.
