Bank Holiday. Monday Hours on Tuesday

Post by crocop07 »

Hello guys,

I am just looking for some clarity on what hours your office works on a Tuesday after a bank holiday Monday.

In our office (on my shift) we have always worked Tuesday hours however management have put up a notice for the next bank holiday claiming we are to work Monday Hours on the Tuesday and it just so happens that a lot of people on my shift have longer shifts on a Monday than a Tuesday.

Is it right that we have to work our longer Monday Hours on Tuesday for no extra pay?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Don't know if the 'policy' is written down anywhere, but (and this is in delivery) - I had a 'discussion' with manager about this once, I asked him to clarify how many hours of holiday would be deducted if I wanted to book the Tuesday off after the public holiday Monday. He looked confused said 'Tuesday hours' - then suddenly it hit him the hole he'd just dug for himself, I said I'll be working Tuesday hours then, he walked off and that was the last I heard of it.

This sounds like the wording to copy to me. It's a Tuesday or it isn't, f**k the bank holiday, that was your day off or, or you're owed a day off for it. Tuesdays workload isn't your problem.
