Is there any way to buy extra shares through the portal, in an ad hoc kind of way on top of the partnership plan?

Don’t think so, if u want to buy more I think you will need to use a broker.

It appears you don't have to pay tax if you're forced to sell your shares in a takeover - https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manual ... assum25120

I think you can only be forced to sell your shares if the entity buying them already owns over 90% of the available shares so if you voluntarily sell before that threshold you are liable for tax.

Bear in mind I'm a postman, not a financial advisor so don't sue me if I'm wrong!

I think you're broadly right, someone who acquires over 90% of a company's share capital can apply to a court for permission to compulsorily purchase the remaining shares at the same price as the successful offer price.

But before then the offer will become unconditional which means that the bidder has gained control of the company having acquired over 50% of the share capital, the timetable then stops and anybody who hasn't already done so can take the final offer any time.
I think it is at that stage that the shares in the Equitini accounts would be cashed in.

June update 17/06/24

36 shares purchased @ £3.241747 + 2 free per £100 gross/monthly investment.

Anyone paying in the full £100pm since this scheme first started should now have a total of 2770 shares (2632 + 138) worth a total of £10249 at the takeover offer price.

If the takeover is allowed to proceed this scheme will have to end in October.

Since current share price is a way below the offer price everyone should be taking their maximum available amount!

Also those extra shares votes can be used to vote no in September at the meeting to approve DK...

Any 'postie' no votes would be massively outnumbered by the 'snouts in troughs' votes. I know many of the staff
in our office don't know how/can't be ars**d to vote at the AGM even though it's straightforward.

The share price is below the offer price because it's reflecting the political uncertainty, if the deal is blocked the share price will crash but if it isn't the price will rise to just below the offer price.

At the AGM on 25th of September I would guess that at least 95% of shares voting will be cast in favour of the deal and assuming the politicians have finished, the offer will become unconditional almost straight away.

Whatever the outcome of the AGM vote, the acceptance of the offer is contingent on shareholders getting the offer documents and agreeing to sell their holdings to the bidder

You should in fact have 2686+142, so 2,828 shares in total (not counting the August 2024 allocation, which is imminent), worth £10463.60 at the takeover offer price.
