There’s no magic wand for the CWU to put things right , Royal Mail run the company and call the shots , it’s not the 1970s anymore. All the union can do is try to have an input in the changes that Royal Mail make that benefit the workforce in some way , be that financially or work life balance wise .and before people pipe up and say they had a massive mandate to strike , the reality was that wasn’t enough to stop Royal Mail .

You do want you want, I'd never join the toothless, powerless shopping club that is Unite.
If that is the best on offer then may as well be not in any union.

Unfortunately, whether we like it or not — and like you, I don’t like it — the CWU are the staff-side representatives and negotiators for postal grades. Happy to be corrected, but my understanding is that until such time as less than 49% of the workforce are members of the CWU it will remain that way.

Correct. The deceitful, dishonest, charlatans that run the company won't be happy until they own you. They expect you to prioritise RM over your family and your freedom. If you don't like it, they're happy for you to leave, so they can employ a cheaper, more mouldable slave instead.
OK, slight exaggeration but you get the point....

Well done, You've joined a union that have no bargaining power to represent you. Real smart move and good value for your money. :thumbup

Change is inevitable, the unions job is to mitigate that change and try to get as much as possible in terms of finances or work patterns.

You'd be as well representing yourself for all the good that will do
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next
