Reduce hours .

Very unclear on this , asking for a colleague currently and myself possibly in 3 years time .colleague on full time pension age wants to reduce to 3 days a week can this be done if so suppose a job share would be arranged 2 people doing 3 days a week ,could they pick there own days mon - wed for eg .also heard now that anyone wanting a shorter working week have to do a Sunday as compulsory, the same as new starters is this true ?

i have been doing a job share for a few years now
the way they wanted it done was to work thursday friday saturday...off sunday and then work monday tuesday wednesday
so basically a week on week off but starting on a thursday
i have no idea why they wanted it like that but it suits me anyway
sunday working was never mentioned but i told them i would work sunday if i needed to but they said they have enough cover for the sundays

In the office where I worked the manager was quite flexible, one pairing worked alternate days, eg. 1person worked Monday, Wednesday, and Friday whilst the other did Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Another duty has 3 sharing, 1 does Monday, another Tuesday, and Wednesday whilst the 3rd member works Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Another pairing works the conventional Thursday, Friday and Saturday, day off Sunday, then Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it depends on the manager and the person entering the hours worked, as I said with the help of the union, when we had the last revision, the manager was very accommodating . Good luck

I've just gone from 32 hours a week to 30 hours. There's no mention of working a Sunday.
