As I said in my post - not all areas are the same it seems.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 20:37Letters are not going up though, are they? Not according to Royal Mail, the union, numerous people on here who process letters and common sense. Imagine the days prior to Email. The only way you could get a written document to anywhere was post; so CV's, credit card statements, mortgage documents, pay slips ect ect ect. None of which is applicable anymore.norris9 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 20:03I'd love to see how mail volumes vary from village to village, from town to town, and from city to city.....Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 15:51it's impossible to argue the letters justify the current 6 day USO. I had 7 letters in a road on 80 houses Tuesday. It's an extreme example admittedly, as said road rarely gets much post, but the amount of letters now is declining at a huge rate.
From what I am seeing - mail is going up.
No chance will I ever get to deliver just 7 letters to a road with 80 houses.....unless a lorry breaks down bringing the mail to the office.
Saturdays and Tuesdays used to be pretty light....I rarely ever see a light mail day on any day of the week now.
However nobody is saying that mail volumes are up to pre email days of the late 90’s early 2000’s. I’m saying that mail volumes where I am are definitely up from what they have been over the last 4 or 5 years and on what the current delivery model was built on. It’s all very well RM, CWU etc etc saying “Mail is down” but the people actually dealing with it at the coal face will know for sure whether it’s going up or down in their office.
