The duties are apparently going to be smaller than currently but as mail won’t be going out everyday you should be hitting more doors in that smaller duty.

Ah I got slightly mistaken with the we'll deliver all mail items on alternating weekdays script, I assumed Mon,Weds,Fri each week but it's not even that it's 5 deliveries per fortnight as when you get a Friday all items delivery your next one will be due the following Tuesday.

And what's this "small parcels" for the days Ahmed, Bob and Jane deliver what about the rest of them or does it mean all parcels ?

Can’t see any problems with people wanting to go. Everyone in my office are happy to go. We are all burnt out. We are about 40% understaffed now. Even the young newbies want out.

I sometimes get asked to take just parcels on 2 duties, that more than fills my time.

3 duties of parcels and 1st class, also will be emptying boxes and customer collections. In addition will be doing all specials and redeliveries from the day before

Average duty in my place gets 80 parcels. So 3 x 80 = 240
Let’s say a route with 700 drops gets 70 1st class = 210
Collections will be about 12 for 3 rounds

As I always say, get a manager to show you how it’s done and then I’ll happily do it

EVERYTIME they TRY and reorganise duties it just becomes worse. We just had a Review where they took the extra work off the duties they'd given it to in the last Revision .... because it was imposssible to complete. The COM said, "There you go I've helped you all out by making your duties easier"
I pointed out, "You shouldn't have given us the extra work in the first place because our duties were already too big"

But apparently someone further up the slippery pole had hit HIS target .... Had got HIS Bonus and moved on to a better place. So that's alright then.

In principle, I'm not that opposed to it. It seems the lesser of potential evils when they were on about dropping the letters to three days. Frankly, from a pragmatic point of view, it's impossible to argue the letters justify the current 6 day USO. I had 7 letters in a road on 80 houses Tuesday. It's an extreme example admittedly, as said road rarely gets much post, but the amount of letters now is declining at a huge rate. Our second mech bundles now are sorted into the pigeon holes now as they're usually a handful of letters. According to the forcasts Royal Mail are doing, they anticipate they only need 50% of us on a Saturday. Which means one in two Saturdays off for those of us that want it. Combined with no compulsory redundancies, and a more clear picture to how it's actually going to work in practice, it doesn't sound too bad.

Waiting for all the comments saying give me 40k and I'll go Fairly certain RM will force as many out as they can with their current methods and any redundancies that do happen will be paid without any enhanced terms.

Regarding non drivers

Ahmed and Bob could be a driver/non driver pairing in this system example ( halfing duty A then halfing duty B like we do now on park and loop ) - its not necessarily singleton duties

It is highly unlikely RM would want their fleet to be doubled in size with empty passenger seats - thatd be stupid
