Wave 2 DTS
We've only recently had the DTS switch on for our DTS batches for wave 2. Why is most of what comes out as DTS on wave 2 1C?

Re: Wave 2 DTS
Is this something you were told to do or it switched on automatically? If latter you can easily switch it off yourself. I don't see us doing DTS's on top of the Wave 2 work we've taken over from the MPU's and our own. Nights with heavy 1st wave are extremely close to not clearing as it is because of it.
Not sure why its 1c in there but it was the case for us as well whenever we sequenced W2 ocassionaly in the past. Any work we collect over the night from the ilsm for the W1 batches we havent run yet can deferr 1c for some reason. My guess would be it's not being read/calculated properly for the sorting list?

Re: Wave 2 DTS
We can't set which batches will be DTS batches, that gets done centrally. Up until very recently DTS was enabled but not active for any wave 2 batches.
With the 2C extract on the inward, the wave 2 batches are often very small, sometimes only about 1/4 of a box.
Anything from the iLSM after a batch has been run goes out as manual, apart from DTS and the 2C extract, we're not allowed to hold anything.

Re: Wave 2 DTS
We can switch ours on/off at will using a supervisor login on CSS. Not that we are allowed to unless we're specifically told to do so. Usually gets done centrally but occasionaly it doesn't go through or bugs out and thats when we do it ourselves.

Re: Wave 2 DTS
DTS will be off all this week, i heard over the weekend.
I suspect it is because of the bulk postings ending this weekend 30th march.
Work will drop off like a stone after easter weekend.

What does DTS stand for please?
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Yeah it's for customers sending bulk mailings, they get a lower price and RM get up to 5 days to deliver it so it's held at the mail centre until the sorting machine detects another item due for delivery for the same address or until 5 days is up, I think that's correct.

Re: Wave 2 DTS
Yep. When any 1C item passes through any machine on the late shift (including the "normal" DSA), the software engine compiles a list of all DPs that have got a 1C item due. When the batch is run any "DSA Economy" item where the DP isn't on that list gets held till the next night, for a maximum of 5 days. I've had days where over half a batch goes to the DTS york.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑25 Mar 2024, 17:00Yeah it's for customers sending bulk mailings, they get a lower price and RM get up to 5 days to deliver it so it's held at the mail centre until the sorting machine detects another item due for delivery for the same address or until 5 days is up, I think that's correct.
Locally the activation of DTS on the wave 2 (which is all walk sort) has only happened over the last couple of weeks, and over 90% of it for some reason is 1C. We just put whatever the CSS has sorted to the DTS stacker with the rejects/manual

This is kind of hilarious considering some pay full price for their mailings to be left sat in frames for weeks on end sometimes.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑25 Mar 2024, 17:00Yeah it's for customers sending bulk mailings, they get a lower price and RM get up to 5 days to deliver it so it's held at the mail centre until the sorting machine detects another item due for delivery for the same address or until 5 days is up, I think that's correct.

It just goes to show that you and I and the majority of RM staff, know that the general public are being fleeced by these charlatans running Royal Mail.ted_e_bear wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 18:10I know I thought that too.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑28 Mar 2024, 18:03

Re: Wave 2 DTS
How strange that they can turn off the damn machine when they know it's going to be busy and get opgs to do 6 days work in 4 days
so that they get a big slap on the back from the higher ups

Re: Wave 2 DTS
Better to have it off the whole week than the way they've been doing it at ours. They're switching it off every 3rd day while feeding us the worst mail possible that barely passes through (or doesnt unless you force it by hand) just for it all to deffer. Then on the 3rd day we're forced to sequence it all at once with DTS off its absolute nightmare. It's a jam'a'thon and they don't care. Decisions made by people that have never even stood next to CSS let alone know how it works/how to run it.
