I do remember the UCW, as i think it was then ,did tell women about the changes back in 1995. I have friends not Royal Mail, who say they never knew about the changes.

The whole saga is baffling to me. Some of the women retired at fifty and are complaining that the pension age changed.

Who on earth did not know that pension ages were going to change? They’re still changing?!

It's utter twaddle....my wife knew in 1995 and will be entitled to the compensation if the government act on the recommendation which I'm sure they will in an election year.

I started working at 15 and a bloke at my office started working at 13 and we’ll both have to work until we’re well over 60 but that is subject to change!

Yes, and the news about a woman that "want's her £40k pension" is grinding my gears.....no state pension will be £40k in my lifetime. I know the "loss" is £40k but it's not being reported like that.

I support their fight and hope they get a decent amount of compensation.
It shouldn't have jumped up 5 years in one go. It should have been at least, incremental.

Imagine if your retirement went from 67 to 72 in one foul swoop. I could understand then, that it would grind your gears.

I've had quite a few WASPI women comment to me on my duty. I just say, "Well you girls wanted to be treated equally with men ... you got your way didn't you"? The problem was they "Trusted" the Government to do it sensibly. It's a bit like the story of the Council Cleaners who complained they didn't earn the same as the Bin Men ... so the Council cut the Bin Mens wages ( I'm not sure if that's just an Urban Myth though)

The state pension is not a pot you have saved in to. Current tax payers are paying today's pensions. More older people and less people working paying higher and higher taxes. . Even Labour have started to understand this is a huge problem that should have been sorted 30/40 years ago..

Part of what winds me up about this is that many of the people moaning have not, ‘worked all their lives’ and paid into the system they are now claiming is ripping them off. There are more ‘economically inactive’ people now than ever before, so this problem is probably going to mean the pension age gets bumped to 70.
It must be lovely to be able to retire at 50 but don’t expect the state to pay for it. The WASPI women are complaining about being made equal.
